Live Poll: Face-Off: 1939 at the Oscars vs. 1999 at the Oscars

It is often argued that the two best years in cinema were 1939 and 1999. The Academy Awards certainly don't reflect everything done in film for the year before, nor do the Best Picture nominees reflect everything at the Oscars any given year. Using a year's Best Picture Oscar nominees, therefore, as any measuring stick is a blunt tool but just for fun, which year do you think had the best movies honored at the Oscars?

I'm thinking about cutting the middle of the intro. so it reads:

It is often argued that the two best years in cinema were 1939 and 1999. Which year do you think had the best movies honored at the Oscars?

'Anyone have any preferences? The only reason I would probably keep the middle part is if the simpler intro is misleading. Thoughts? Thanks.

Since the Best Picture nominees are not the only movies honored at the Oscars, I think it at least needs to be mentioned that you are using that category.

Alternatively, I guess you could include winners of other categories.
