Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you had missed one. In Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Captain Willard Decker (played by Stephen Collins) is the first officer to Admiral Kirke, not Spock. Spock becomes the science officer on that voyage until Decker joins with V'Ger.

The Kirk-Spock combination to which you refer is for the entire Original Series movie franchise from Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979)  to Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991) and the image is from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982), so it is a correct option. However, I uploaded a image for the Kirk-Decker combination and will add it to the list.

"In the 2270s, when it became known that an extremely powerful force was en route to Earth, Kirk seized upon the opportunity to convince Admiral Nogura to grant him command of the Enterprise in order to intercept the threat. Kirk temporarily downgraded Decker's position to executive officer and his rank from captain to commander until the intruder was dealt with, something Decker protested . Decker bluntly expressed his belief that Kirk was only using the emergency to retake command of the Enterprise, and that his inexperience with the newly-upgraded vessel could jeopardize the mission. Regardless, Kirk remained adamant that his own experience in dealing with unknown threats was pivotal to their mission, and maintained command. Later, after the unexpected death of Commander Sonak in a transporter accident, Decker was also forced to double as science officer. This assignment proved only temporary, however, when Spock arrived to offer his services."

Thanks, your recollection is right on the mark, if you recall any other ones, let me know. I know some of Kirk's bridge officers went on to have their own ships and commands, as well as their were some short tenure combos from the spin-off TV series.

Just spotted another two. But the secound has to deal with chain of command or the tradition known as rabbit rank (AKA, what rank you official have and what rank you have when you superior office is not avialible.)
In "The Cage" Spock is not Captian Spock's first officer, the lady called "Number One"(played by Majel Barrett) was. http://www.imdb.com/character/ch00753...
There is a whole subplot in that episode of Pike thinking women shouldn't be on the bridge of a starship, and Number One's reactions clearly shows that the captain's remark S cause friction with the women crew members.
The other is in "Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country", when Spock rabbit ranks as captain of the Enterprise while Capt. Kirke is imprisoned in Rura Penthe. I'm not to sure who in Spock's first officer is but I'm guessing it is ether Uhura or Lt. Valeris (Kim Cattrall)

Thanks, always good to consider all the options. The first one, according to the IMDb character biography is for an unseen and unnamed character. Probably, a less than ideal option for a poll. As a guideline, single episode combos, I would like to avoid unless it was in a single movie. But, she does seem to be a valid First Officer .http://memory-beta.wikia.com/wiki/Number_One

The second one, I agree that pecking order temporarily changed with everyone moving up to assume the duties, but not necessarily reflects a change in a held position. I also looked at the plot and found no specific mention of who was serving as third in command. If I find something concrete, I will consider adding it. I have been using the two first officer lists and couldn't confirm either as First Officer. http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/First_officer or http://memory-beta.wikia.com/wiki/First_officer, Plus, a second officer taking on the duties of the first, when the Captain or First is off the ship or relieved of duties happens too often to list them all and likely wouldn't get many votes.

While I like "Number One" from "The Cage" and find her an intriguing character, she was essentially a one-shot character. "The Cage" was a failed pilot for Star Trek, produced in 1965 and not actually televised. NBC executives rejected it for being too intellectual and lacking in action.

The creators of Star Trek in Desilu Productions got a rare chance to produce a second pilot for NBC. It was called "Where No Man Has Gone Before". It had almost an entirely new cast of characters, and a new cast of actors. The one returning character from "The Cage" was Spock, but the writing staff revised the character. The writing staff added to Spock the cold and unemotional approach to situations that was originally intended for Number One, and her belief in logic. It apparently worked.

The original and never surpassed Shatner and Nimoy! The material they had to contend with was often weak and shoddy ( and I'm not just talking  about their uniforms!) Yet they kept us glued to our tv screens week after week!
