JFF: What Was the Last Film You Saw, and How Would You Rate It? (Pt. 19)
Simply a follow up to Jen's great post; there were getting to be so many pages in that one I thought it could use a refresh. Happy to carry on the tradition!

Sunday: All five of the Oscar nominated animated short films.
An Ostrich Told Me the World Is Fake and I Think I Believe It (2022), 9/10;
My Year of Dicks (2022): 9/10;
The Flying Sailor (2022), 8/10;
Ice Merchants (2022), 7/10;
The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse (2022), 6/10. The super density of platitudes in the dialogue? I'm certain so many laws of physics were violated in the production.
Finally gotten around to finishing Lost in Space (2018-2021). Including rewatches of season 1 and 2. The first two seasons were around 9/10. The final season was a drop at 7/10. I guess overall the series gets an 8/10.

Mayfair Witches (2023, Season 1)
An entertaining enough guilty pleasure. I've seen better in the genre. Alexandra Daddario is not an especially good actress and her lead character is not especially likeable. 7½ / 10

Indian Movies:
Raksha Bandhan (2022) - 5/10
- social issue of dowry, but not quite the execution it needed. Too many objectionable scenes.
Ram Setu (2022) - 6/10
- archeological expedition turned treasure hunt. Although inspired by true events, doesn't do justice.
Bangalore Days (2014) - 8/10
- about 3 cousins and more about friendship, love, sadness. Entertaining!
Super Deluxe (2019) - 8/10
- parody/commentary of B-grade movies. It's unique and everything works except alien angle.
Charlie (2015) - 7/10
- Theme of the movie is to be magical but that fizzles at various points but honest performances and subtle plot works.
Karthikeya 2 (2022) - 6/10
- archeological expedition with divine intervention. It didn't match the hype and become mediocre some obvious plotholes.
International Movies:
Ayla: The Daughter of War (2017) - 8/10
- based on real story of Turkish army man. Touching.
Hollywood Movies:
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) - 5/10
- Bruce Almighty was way better. No one wants Wonder Woman to do that.
The Banshees of Inisherin (2022) - 8/10
- Despite of niche subject deals with various aspects of human relationship. It takes while to get the hang of the story and people but they you can relate to them very well.
MCU:
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022) - 6/10
- Why Marvel? Why? If regular superhero stuff works why do something different. Probably the worst content so far, especially the last episode. The cast saves it from embarrassment.
I Am Groot (2022) - 7/10
- it's not 'live with you forever' stuff but good ones and brings a smile on your face.
The Guardians of the Galaxy: Holiday Special (2022) - 7/10
- surprisingly nice! They stick to formula and it's for the good. Drax and Mantis getting the center stage is best.
Werewolf by Night (2022) - 7/10
- Another experiment and not quite MCU forte but is good for a TV special.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) - 8/10
- yeah. Stick to your strengths. Best movie of phase 4 in my opinion. Angela Bassett is roaring, Namor, Riri gets nice intro, Shuri and M'Baku steps up. Only complain is climax.

"Singin' in the Rain" last weekend at The Brattle Theatre with some friends, the first time any of us had seen it. Incredible movie.
