JFF: Sight and Sound 2022 Predictions and Whishes
JFF: Sight and Sound 2022 Predictions and Whishes
British Magazine Sight and Sound's highly anticipated Top 100 Best Films of All Time list will be released on December 1st. In fact, there are two lists one for filmmakers and another for critics. The critics' list is the most famous one. The most recent one (2012) can be seen there: https://www.bfi.org.uk/sight-and-sound/greatest-films-all-time
Questions:
1) Which film will claim the Top 1 (Will Vertigo remain the greatest film of all time)?
2) Which film would you want to claim the Top 1?
3) What do you predict the Top 10 will be?
4) What do you want the Top 10 to be?
5) What are going to be the major disappointments and surprises?
6) What are going to be the most recent films in the Top.
7) Other predictions...

1) The Top 1 will be Vertigo
2) The Top 1 should be Touch of Evil
3) Vertigo, Citizen Kane, The Rules of the Game, Tokyo Story, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Apocalypse Now, Man with a Movie Camera, Mirror, Battleship Potemkin Persona
4) Touch of Evil, Il deserto rosso, La belle et la bête (cocteau), Marketa Lazarova, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Il gattopardo, Mirror, Au hasard Bathalzar, Blow-Up, Two English Girls
5) John Ford (The Searchers), Howard Hawks (Red River), David Lean (Lawrence of Arabia) won't do so well. I think Marketa Lazarova will make the Top 100.
6) The Tree of Life, There Will Be Blood and maybe Parasite.
7) I hope Rio Bravo leaves the list. I want to see more Antonioni. I'm going to rage if Lawrence of Arabia leaves the top. Les 400 coups should be replaced by other Truffaut films (Two English Girls).
