Is there any contemporary director who artistically resembles Stanley Kubrick?

Christopher Nolan is a creature of narrative comfort which he uses to mollify audiences in search of narrative closure.  Kubrick’s sensibility is diametrically opposite, there is no audience hand holding or impulse towards sentimentality.
