A Similar poll was made by yrnej aka jen, but as she said: "Which is the best character (not the best film)?her poll is about characters and not about movies.

I included Sabrina, Malena, and Christine.

I didn't include the others, because the poll is about movie with ONLY A FEMALE FIRST NAME as their title.

Apparently, some people actually have the first name "Maleficent". But that doesn't matter since Maleficent is truly the name of a female character in the movie.

^ is the original title. So it doesn't meet the requirements of this list unless you wish to make an exception.

I know what the original title of https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0211915/ is. I have the movie in French Version of the  DVD (I rented it to one of my friends)

Btw, it respects the requirement:

Note: United States titles listed only
Maybe it wasn't clear, but it means that I made my list with the U.S titles. In other words, It always met the requirement.

Plus,

Sabrina (1954), Philomena (2013), Matilda (1996) were already on the list.

I kinda feel insulted that you didn't notice them, I have the impression that you didn't even look at the list.

Sorry. I did look into this list, that's how I suggested those titles. I just didn't properly notice the description. Since I mostly open lists to check the entries.

Man, I can’t believe people are missing Hitchcock’s classic adaptation of Daphine du Maurier’s classic novel , “Rebecca”.

The list was at 36 so I removed the movie that had the smallest amount of votes "Diana".

You could remove a film that doesn’t exactly fit your criteria. “Christine”. It is the name of a haunted automobile, (a 1958 Plymouth Fury in the book - I had read Stephen King’s novel on which the movie is adapted from). The rest are names of human female characters in the movie, with the exception of “S1m0ne” which was a computer simulation that developed a human personality.

As Ed said, the poll is about movie titles with a Female First Name. It is not important that the character is a car since the poll isn't about characters it's about the movies.

My take on this is that every title, including “Annabelle” has a human actress to play the title role and carry the movie at some point. Who plays Christine? No one! If you wanted a list that include things with female names, I would have suggested “Mary” (2019) which was a haunted ship. (Please don’t look it up. It is a bad movie even though it started Gary Oldman.)
I would have kept “Gigi” and axed “Christine”. But Cinephile is the final authority on this list. He is god here.

And along the line of things with human names:
Annabeth
Christine
S1m0ne
Mary
D.A.R.Y.L.
H.A.L. 1000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey
The Wreck of the Mary Deare (1959)

             Gigi vs. Christine

Gigi:

Rating: 6.7
Votes: 18 738
Popularity: Unknown (Not an IMDb Pro member)
Oscars: 9
Best Picture: Yes

Christine:

Ratings: 6.7
Votes: 67 584
Popularity: 2996 (UP)
Oscars: 0
Best Picture: No

Analysis:

Ratings: Tie
Votes: Christine
Popularity: Christine
Oscars: Gigi
Best Picture: Gigi

Conclusion:

Christine: 2/5
Gigi: 2/5

My decision:

When I make a poll, I usually want the options that are the most likely to get votes. Christine has more votes and higher popularity than Gigi, I have come to the conclusion that Christine would be a better option in the poll.

I second Nell. I doubt it will get votes but it is a good film. Look at the award nominations it got for Jodie Foster’s performance.

I added Nell and deleted Gigi which was the movie with the least votes on the list.

Is Queen her real name or more of a stage name??

cinephile,

It's not a stage name. Her real name is "Rani" (Hindi) which means "Queen" in the English language. Her friend(s) in the movie call her "Queen."

Good poll! A few very good movies but my vote will probably go to Ida or perhaps Juno. I'm wondering why you state "U.S. movies only:" Amelie is from France and Germany, Elizabeth is from the U.K., Philomena from the U.K. and U.S., Queen is from India, and Ida is from Poland. There may be others.

I stated: "Note: United States titles listed only" not because I restrict the poll to U.S. movies, but because I want only to U.S. title.

Title:

the name of a book, composition, or other artistic work.

For example:

The original title of Amelie is Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain  but its U.S. title is Amelie so it was included in the list.

If you have a better formulation tell me.
