FAQ: Polls Featured at IMDb Home Page

lol. I don't remember how long since my last poll been in the homepage, but i'm sure I ain't got many. But the number of votes nowdays is so pathetic that average poll will hardly even get 500 votes to be counted in Hotly Contested Poll. (sad)

That's the problem, obviously, the homepage is the real deal, the only way to have a poll with a credible outcome. When I suggest a poll now, my goal is the homepage, I only see the selection as a sort of first step... but it's been almost one year and half without any poll while many regulars can get two in a row or have like dozens of selections. i'm glad for them... but I wish my polls could get their shot at the homepage too.

Other than what's currently hot, I think it's just a very random choice. I can't expect to be featured on homepage, because mostly I don't, lol. I think regular poll members have followed all the technical rules correctly, it is just some random luck. 

ElM, I think you're recently published "menacing posters" poll has a shot - it asks a straightforward question (which they seem to like), good options; I think it's possible.

To be honest, I'm not too hot about that poll, lol, DC was right, I should have put the images instead and there are not many options in the first place. I wouldn't really care about this one. My deepest regret is that the "Images that speak 1000 words" never made it in the homepage, this one was my darling, I wanted it.

I don't know, I think Peas hit it bang on above, polling isn't what it used to be; it was just so much more engaging before and now it seems so much of the energy we used to invest into it is slowly dwindling away... :'(

Peas also mentions the randomness, yes, it seems random, because we've had a recent streak of non-timely polls and it was quite refreshing... but from my
standpoint, it was one deception after another, each poll made me think 'I've suggested something like this" and this thing has been going for so long, I can't believe in randomness anymore.I mean if it was really random, surely, there would come a time where your card would be taken.... even accidentally.

So yes, it's pretty disappointing and I'm so often thinking of taking a leave of absence but the old habits die hard and I need to have my fix of poll suggestions, give another shot, and I just love talking about movies in general and I couldn't make it to the other websites, so I'm speaking as a faithful and devoted IMDb memeber. But if this streak isn't broken soon, I will be discouraged and focus on my work on reviews... and you better believe this is extremely time-consuming.

Now, I could say I'm sorry to be such a cry-baby but I would be just hypocritical because I remember how it was such a big deal when the same polls were kept on the homepage for more than a week and many users complained about it and rightfully so, and I'm sure those who get their polls regularly couldn't imagine going through two months without one poll in the homepage, so, I think sometimes, it is very sane and appropriate to let off steam. I needed to say it and now, I can move forward.

After all, tomorrow is another day. But not another homepage poll.
