I worked for United Artists for almost eight years. For that period of time, I basically saw every movie that was released. Most of these were watched in an auditorium either by myself or with a couple of coworkers. We all had our favorite places to sit and were usually not together. I saw "virgin" prints that had no scratches on the film (picture or sound).
I had been taught by a man who installed Dolby and later THX sound into auditiorums to get exactly in the middle of the screen and then count the number of side speakers on the wall and get in the middle of the speakers. This would give me the best sound possible from all of the speakers.
I miss seeing films this way. Being in crowded auditoriums with all of the related noise (and the sticky floors) just doesn't give the same experience.
Sorry for rambling, but my favorite way to watch films is a little different than others.
@TheOldJalapenoman Since a few years ago I have to select my sit in the theater when I buy the tickets so unfortunately I the advice from the Dolby guy gets a little bit late :(
