My list would have looked much different! Some names I would exclude and some I would include, for instance I would have included Ella Fitzgerald, but apparently, Rolling Stone isn't into jazz

Nina Simone and Etta James were jazz artists (to some degree).

It's a pretty old list to boot. No contemporary artists.

I think that the best is to make genre lists - I mean how do you compare for instance Hank Williams to Tina Turner?

Well, we compare "Bohemian Rhapsody" to "Avengers Endgame" so why not, lol :)

No. Not necessarily true. Even if I have had seen BR (which I have yet to), I wouldn't compare the two movies.

I like this already, tho some of my favorite isn't in the list, yet...

Anyway, I'd vote for Michael Jackson, then Aretha Franklin, then Stevie Wonder.

If I may suggest to put Rolling Stone on the title, like Rolling Stone Magazine's The Greatest Singers of All Time, like we use to do with reference to Oscar. Oscar nominated....., like Forbes' Highest Earning Celebrities... etc, they all the same proces.

I know that you put that on the description already, but the "The Greatest Singers of All Time" tend to be click bait and generalization of all best list and I'm afraid of people who do not aware about the source of the list.

Hi there,

Thanks for the input. I've changed the title;

I was listening to something on NPR about Bob Dylan, and, boy, when that guy didn't have a good tune and lyrics, he's unbearable.  Anyways, I think the Rolling Stone list is predictably too into its own rock star image promoting.  So, yeah, no Ella Fitzgerald.  Nobody pre-rock or too far away from rock, really, even though Edison and company invented sound recording the century before.  No Sinatra. No Judy Garland.

Given the magazine's actually narrow parameters for the list, Aretha Franklin is fine topping it.

I do rather consider this to be challenging.
