Now this is my kind of list--I've seen all of them, and I like all of them.  Very touch choice, but I'll go with City Lights, the most iconic figure of silent cinema making a movie about how great silent films are when talkies had fully taken over--and he still uses sound and music better than every synchronized-sound film of the era.

Good poll! And very tough choice. I'm deliberating between The Passion of Joan of Arc, M, City Lights, and All Quiet on the Western Front.

Since popular also means well liked, perhaps mention in the intro that all of the films also have a rating of at least 7.5? (They all do.)

Oh hey, lol nice observation. I never noticed.

Actually, these are the top 35 oldest feature films with 25k+ votes.

I don't think mentioning they all have an average rating of 7.5 or above is necessary because there are no other film released in or before 1939 with 25k+ votes and a below 7.5 rating.

I haven't excluded any film, all of them are on this list.

But if you still think it's necessary, I'll do it.

No, I don't think it's necessary.

Ugh, how am I going to decide between such great movies?! I may use my strategy that I use when I'm really torn: narrow it down to (in this case) three or four and then vote for the one that gets the least number of votes in the poll. I'm guessing that'll be "The Passion of Joan of Arc"...? It'll be interesting to see the results of this poll in general.

Hey Boss, if you could change this from "idea" to "praise" and "suggestion" to "live poll," that'd be very cool and very helpful. Thanks!
