Disaster preparedness is a never-ending 365 days of the year, 24 hours in the day task that just might save your life and those of your family. A great first step is taking the opportunity to reflect on past calamities, learn from past mistakes, and celebrate our ability to weather any storm by thriving in chaotic situations. A family movie night featuring disaster movies can provide valuable insight into the importance of wise decision-making and allow viewers to acquire real-world insight without the cost and risk normally required. #ResilienceStartsAtHome

I'll vote for the original The Poseidon Adventure every day of the week.  It's one of my top 25 favorite films.  Love it!

@TheOldJalapenoman

I hope you realize you can vote in both the 20th and 21st century polls and not to have choose. The original scored about a third higher than the reboot on IMdb, so you may choose a more orignal 21st movie. It is nice to see the genre still thriving, but evolving.

Not surprisingly there were a lot of lessons to learn from the "original" including survival lessons, leadership lessons, lessons in courage, lessons in faith & spirituality, among many others.

@urbanemovies   Yes, but while I loved the original, I did not much care for the remake.  The story was not as strong and the cast didn't have the same strength or energy.  My vote went elsewhere.

@TheOldJalapenoman The age old of story of once you see how well the same story can be done, it is hard to appreciate anything else that just doesn't measure up. To be fair, disaster films usually don't feature oscar-calibier casts. The movie could have been about paint drying and that cast would have had you on the edge of your seat. The Poseidon Adventure' (1972) features an ensemble cast that includes five Oscar winners: Gene Hackman, Ernest Borgnine, Jack Albertson, Shelley Winters, and Red Buttons.
