Lifetime Contributor Badges

We are pleased to announce our new Lifetime Contributor Badges. For the first time ever, all IMDb users (including yourself) can now see how many contributions you have across 8 different categories such as new titles, filmography, trivia etc.  Each badge has gold, silver and bronze classifications with varying levels, ranging from 1 to 1 million + contributions (yes, some of you have over 1 million live items!).  As you contribute, your badge class and level will increase over time.  For each badge, the gold level represents the top 1-2% of all contributors. 

We hope these new badges are both fun and engaging, while also highlighting the importance our contributors provide to IMDb. Without you, IMDb would not exist.  Thank you!

How does the 'Lifetime Image' badge come? Do we have to add images by paying money or by Editing the Image Tags?

Just check your profile page at IMDb, images should be there . No payment or upload necessary.

I think he means "how is it calculated? By edits made to tags (or tags added) or by images uploaded?"

I have a feeling it's based on images added to the database...but not sure.

Yes, you are right. I was asking about how the badge is calculated. Do we have to add images by paying money or by editing image tags.

Because I have edited almost 80/85 image tags so far and I haven't get that badge. That is why I am asking.

Hi Dibyayan,
Thanks for the response.    The image badge consists of name and title links submitted via the "Edit Tags" button.  Paid image submissions do not count towards this badge.

Sorry I forgot to mention before. 2 days ago I edited tags of at least 35/40 images. I just checked those images and I found that my tags has been applied successfully. But still I haven't get any 'Lifetime Image' badge on my profile (http://www.imdb.com/user/ur45394926/).

We are still working out a few remaining publishing items, but once finalized (soon), badges will start refreshing typically once a day. That said, there is a lag between submission approval and badge assignment which could span 3-4 days.

Nic: At least one of my badges appears to be incorrect. At http://www.imdb.com/user/ur1879600/ I have a "Lifetime Trivia 10,000+" badge. But counting trivia items added, deleted, and corrected, as far as I can determine, I have less than 300 of them. I wonder where the 10,000+ number came from.

Nic has explained on Contributors Help (http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000042/nest/249530913?d=249552777#249552777) that the Trivia badge includes more than just the categories labeled Trivia. An excerpt from his post:
Here is the breakdown of what is in each badge: 
title = "title" (just the title submission not all supporting content) 
name = "name" (just the name submission not all supporting content) 
plot = "plot_outline", "plot_summary" 
trivia = "trivia", "goof", "quote", "connection", "crazy_credit", "soundtrack", "name_trivia" (essentially all the Did You Know? items) 
bio = "mini_bio" 
image = "image_name_link", "image_title_link" 
filmo = cast, major_crew, minor_crew (which is actually a whole bunch of sub items such as "animation_department", "art_department", "art_director") 
total = sum of all IMDb submissions excluding Swiki/Reviews. Essentially everything you can submit via the "edit" button on www.imdb.com or via mobile devices. This includes all title and name sub items such as runningtime, genre, height etc.

Although I'm already on record confessing that I'm not a regular contributor,
I must admit I'm a little bit embarrassed by my "Lifetime Total 5+" badge.

Can we have an option to hide our badges,  or would that be silly?

Please tell the artist who created the badge they did a great job. The badges are a great addition celebrating 25 years of research from IMDb contributors.
