Correcting a title song over multiple episodes

The title song for "That '70s Show" has errors in the songwriter name.

The entry that appears in the 'Soundtracks' section for nearly 200 episodes is
That '70s Song: Written by 'Ben Vaughan (II)' (uncredited)
Performed by Cheap Trick
Based on "In the Street"
Written by Alex Chilton and Chris Bell
1. There is no (qv) after the name.
2. The songwriter's name is actually 'Ben Vaughn (II)'.
3. Some entries lack the 'uncredited' attribute, and it is unclear as to whether it should refer to the songwriter or to the song title.

Looking at the 'Soundtrack' entries for the overall title, the entry for the title song appears as
That '70s Song (In the Street): (uncredited)
Based on "In the Street" by Alex Chilton and Chris Bell
Performed by Cheap Trick
(Season 2-8)
Is there a way to correct all the entries in one or several updates, rather than having edit 197 separate entries?

Hi Graham -

First, in order to hyperlink the name, you will need to update the data to include the proper formatting:  'Firstname Lastname' (qv)
For example: 'Paul Newman' (qv)

Second, if the songwriters name is "Ben Vaughn (II)" and not "Ben Vaughan (II)", you will need to submit the name correction within the applicable Soundtrack items.

Third, to clarify, when there is a soundtrack item that is uncredited and the songwriter is also uncredited, it should be formatted as:

"That 70's Song" (uncredited)Written by 'Ben Vaughn (II)' (qv)(uncredited)

Lastly, unfortunately, because Soundtrack listings are listed independently on each episode title page, there isn't a way to update the Soundtrack data in bulk for this series; you will need to submit the corrections/updates individually.

When a song is uncredited, it should go without saying that the songwriters and performers are uncredited.

I have always contributed on that basis.

If a song is not credited, how can its songwriter(s) be credited? or its performers?

There are no Soundtrack items that include just the text "Written by Irving Berlin" or "Performed by Enrico Caruso" (or shouldn't be).

So, if I add an uncredited song, I mark the song as 'uncredited', but not the songwriter(s) nor the performer(s). If I add songwriter(s)/ performer(s) to an entry of an existing 'uncredited' song, I do not add the 'uncredited' attribute to the songwriter(s)/ performer(s).

This is covered in the Soundtracks Submission Guide:
__________

Uncredited soundtracks: If a song is heard, but not listed in an onscreen credit or announced, then the title should be marked "(uncredited)", like this:
"Dancing Queen" (uncredited)
Written by ...

Uncredited artists: If the song is named, but other details are not provided, then the names of the composers and/or performers, if they can be determined via other sources, can themselves be marked (uncredited).
__________
Notice that there is no (uncredited) next to Written by.

Excellent reason to change the guidelines to only list theme tunes on the series page, not episode pages.

Are there series though where the the theme song changes?

Actually, this points to something I would like to see is having season pages for series (especially with the proliferation of anthology series) because I doubt theme songs change mid-season.

Yes, but changes from season to season can be indicated on the page. This is in fact the case in Graham's example:

I just posted an essential Idea which would make an editing task such as this which applies to all (or multiple) episodes of a series exponentially faster.  It will require votes in order to be implemented:

Add ability to edit episodes from series page

And I found these 2 Ideas after the fact which overlap with mine, as they didn’t show up in the results from my initial searches.  I suggest voting for these too:

Make it possible to contribute to multiple episodes at the same time

Add release date for multiple episodes and/or seasons
