Cast list warning and 'This is a different person' acknowledgments not being saved

Until recently, if you are adding cast members, and acknowledge the major credit warning or select "This is a different person" (or "I'm not sure"), and then save the submission (to finish later), those choices would be saved.  However, they no longer are.  Why not?

Your choices of checking the above box, or either of the two options below will be discarded if you save the submission and then re-open it.

Hi, Ron:

That some yellow warnings are not saved is something that has been happening (and has been reported) for a long time (what I call the classic yellow warning bug in this post from 7 months ago).

However, you are absolutely correct. It seems that in the last few days this problem has spread to other yellow warnings (most of them, actually) which, until now, were saved correctly (and the system didn't ask you to acknowledge them again).

In addition to being annoying (having to click multiple times on the same checkboxes is both inefficient and frustrating),the accumulation of warnings each time the update is reopened causes the form to saturate and the browser to respond very poorly. Moreover, when it is a large contribution, the processing capacity limit of the system (which I have complained about countless times) is reached much sooner. And the irony is that a pop-up window usually appears suggesting you to take care of the possible errors... (which I've been doing a bunch of times, but you don't save them!).

I have noticed a logic error that has started happening in the past couple of days, concerning the form validation.

If I add credit orders to existing unordered credits for a title (any title) and add a "Cast Complete" flag, I may encounter check boxes which have to be acknowledged, for "Confirmation
I have confirm that the cast listing is complete" and "Please confirm this person received a major credit on this title. An order number of 1, 2 or 3". These give a "yellow" status for the relevant cast or "cast complete" entry until the check boxes are checked. Perfectly normal.

If I check the relevant boxes and press the "Re-check" button, the fields turn green. But... if I press the "Save for Later" button and then click on the submission ID to continue making changes to that submission, the check boxes revert to unchecked and the fields revert to yellow. Until a couple of days ago, both "Re-check" and "Save for Later" preserved the check boxes and the green colour.

This means that after saving the partly-completed form for later and then resuming, it is always necessary to go through re-checking any check boxes which have lost the status that I earlier gave them.

I have reproduced this error with about 10 different titles.

Note: This comment was created from a merged conversation originally titled Logic error in form validation - previously "green" cast revert to "yellow" status after "Save for Later"

Hi, Fran:

Thank you for resolving the problem reported by Ron. However, I think it would have been a good time to finally put an end to the bug where other yellow warnings are not saved.

For instance:

  • Correcting the occupation of an existing credit (this does not occur with new credits) when the new occupation does not exist in the database.

  • Occupations with terms that suggest belonging to another department.

There are some others, that I'll be posting here as I come across them. I hope you can solve them as well.

Thank you very much.

P.S. The first of the above situations is particularly common. For example, I am working on a full audit of the Alien: Covenant (2017) credits. Many entries already exist in the film's page, so a good portion of the edits are corrections to the occupations to match the on-screen caption. Whenever one of the amended occupations is first-timer to the database, a yellow warning that can't be saved appears. And I have to carry over all these warnings until the last moment before sending the update, which can happen several days later.

Hi @ljdoncel,

Our team have confirmed that this issue should now be fixed, with the cases reported also being fixed. Testing also didn't reveal any further cases.

Please could you confirm whether this is your experience?

Thanks!

Hi, Ozzy.

Thank you very much for solving the problem. I'm finishing the audit of the credits of The Exorcist: Believer (2023) and so far everything works ok (by the way, someone should explain to the person who sent a “crew complete” contribution that a crew is not complete if 594 names! are missing).

If in the future I detect again some yellow warning that is not saved I will post it here.

Thanks again. Cheers! 😊

The only other item I've found (so far) that isn't saved, is a variation on the "This is a different person" issue mentioned in the first post.

Steps to re-create:

a) open any title

b) added a cast member

c) Type in 'Joe Dirt' (or any other name)

d) Select, "This is a different person not currently listed - create [NAME]"

e) Click the 'Save for Later" button.

f) Reload the saved submission, and see that the selection has not been saved.

Interestingly, if you select it and save it again, this time it will stick.
