Bot/AI generated reviews?

This user had a thread here inquiring if he was blocked because his reviews were not being approved anymore: https://www.imdb.com/user/ur163757445/

@ACT_1 pointed out the incredible number of 3,242 reviews posted in just one month. And then I said these reviews look like all generated by AI/GPT. As soon as I said that, the thread was disappeared, it seems the user ran and deleted his forum account by thinking he was caught after seeing someone pointed out they all look like AI generated.

I checked several of these reviews with several AI content detectors like ZeroGPT and others, and all of them are very confident they are AI/GPT generated, results are like that:

The reviews are filled hallucinations which is one of the biggest issues of ChatGPT, meaning they are filled with made-up, nonexistent, false, "hallucinated" info, just for example, this review says it won "Audience Award for Best Documentary in Sundance Film Festival" which is not true at all: https://www.imdb.com/review/rw9014421/
That's what ChatGPT does, "hallucinating" nonexisting things and presenting them in a very confident manner, other reviews are filled with things like that too. You can read more about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hallucination_(artificial_intelligence)
So, how this thing falls in line with "Your submission must be your own original work" policy? https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/contribution-information/user-review-guidelines/GABTWSNLDNFLPRRH
It seems like all of these reviews should be deleted.
Maybe you should also add another point about AI generated content to that "must be your own original work" policy.

@VonPunk Yeah it seems it's the same person, this user page I linked in my first post has a different username, avatar and description now: https://www.imdb.com/user/ur163757445/

His username was The Movie Machine, he was saying he's an "entity" and had a CPU avatar, now he's trying to portray it as a human it seems.

I don't understand what IMDb is considering here really. A review is your opinion after you watch something, these are clearly not "reviews" because the algorithm clearly does not "watch" them and writes an opinion based on it. It just generates them.

@mbmb Yeah it's hopefully a topic they are internally working on. I mean they did seem to stop the reviews being posted before they were rumbled here but that was after over 3200 got added. I posted back in Jan'22 when AI submissions were being discussed that soon as bad actors got in on the AI act it could turn into a big problem and I hope they've been looking into finding ways to stop that for at least as long, if it's even possible to do so.

At some point, anything that a person or an algorithm is able to "imagine" could be manifested photorealistically and kinetorealistically. I do estimate that public key encryption could help to some degree. Cameras could be designed that cryptographically sign every frame or every collection of frames of the digital negative image produced by its optical processing mechanisms. We would be able to trust such digital cameras that don't have any image manipulation subsystem built into them, but it does beg the question of what to do about cracked keys or sights within the field of view that are flat imitations of depth rather than what the ordinarily be captured in the view. Thankfully, for the foreseeable future, there won't be such things as "holographic" illusions (say, like Mysterio's) that could be plausibly fool a human being partaking in direct observation.

Have you met David Johnson yet, ACT_1? He is the forum's latest fast-rising star of unreliable response posts. The creator of this thread believes that the bot may be a sneaky one, like the kind that edits its own posts to include hyperlinks to obscure websites.

@ACT_1 Thanks for keeping track of the details of that reviewer. I see he's actually surpassed the number of reviews added where he was originally rumbled by IMDb. Aside from the profile and name changes listed above I noticed he's also changed the style of how the reviews look at least 3 times to try avoid detection as well which so far is working for him, or maybe staff have read this thread and are letting him work really hard for longer before pulling the rug out.

@VonPunk Given that the new account was not even blocked to submit reviews at this point, I'm afraid they'll end up saying "we decided to allow these because we don't care about the integrity of anything on this site"

I also think the first account was probably deleted by the user himself, not by staff, because he was not able to submit any new reviews, he probably deleted it to continue from a non-blocked account, and it works actually.

@mbmb Sadly you may be right, I think the site being slowly over taken by contributor AI's is going to destroy the site eventually if they can find no way to control what comes in from them, could some troll program an AI to add a person to every title on the entire site or a 100 random people, could every page be vandalised in some way in a short period of time, is there any defence in place against that. We can only hope for a good outcome or positive answers to this thread and those hypothetical questions in future.
