based on characters created by Victor Salva

This is in reference to the horror “franchise” JEEPERS CREEPERS. The original movie spawned 2 numbered sequels, the whole 3 of them written and directed by VICTOR SALVA.

Now, a 4th movie, unnumbered but subtitled “Reborn,” which could be defined as a sort of “requel,” half-sequel/half-reboot, has been made by different writers and director, and Mr Salva is not credited at all in it.

I conjecture that the reason for this glaring absence is probably because Salva served a light prison sentence for sexual abuse and now he seems to be kinda “blacklisted.”

Anyway, since the 4th movie features the same premise and especially the same charismatic villain, the "Creeper,” than the first 3 Salva’s ones, I decided to send an uncredited “based on characters created by Victor Salva” submission.

The submission was declined, and after I sent an appeal via e-mail form, the reason was explained to me thus:

“We will no longer be accepting any uncredited "characters created by" credits on any title adapted from an existing source.

The complexities and ambiguities in the creative process across writers involved in the genesis and the specific version of a character that appears in any adaptation means that it is not feasible to accurately represent their individual input.“

“uncredited - The writer was not credited on the screen, but there is reliable evidence that they contributed to the screenplay or story.”

Well, even though I understand all these explanations and generally agree with these guidelines, I still contend  that an exception should be made here and my submission should be accepted.

In this case, there are absolutely no “complexities and ambiguities” on the role of Salva in relation to the 4th movie, and there is reliable evidence that he “contributed to the screenplay of story,” after all, he only created all the basic character/plot elements that have been shamelessly recycled in this 4th installment.

So, IMO, a “based on characters created by Victor Salva (uncredited)” line should be added to the writing credits of “Jeepers Creepers: Reborn”

As a supporting example, the original writer of "The Omen" has been credited in 3 sequels, a reboot, and a prequel of the original, with the same old standard "based on characters created by," even though I seriously doubt he created the Anti-Christ.
