Link "Publicity" from IMDbPro pages

Based on a discussion at https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/press-page-missing and another discussion at http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000042/nest/253363251, it seems that IMDbPro does have publicity listings for individuals, such as http://pro.imdb.com/name/nm0001401/publicity. (I don't have IMDbPro access anymore, but users who do have advised me that these pages still exist on the Pro site.)

But according to the same discussions, there is no link to the publicity listings anywhere on an individual's IMDbPro page.

It seems that the publicity listings should be not only kept on IMDbPro, but linked from an individual's page. I realize that IMDbPro does not include all the features that the free consumer site does (such as trivia and goofs for films).

However, publicity listings could be useful for people in the entertainment industry, such as managers, press agents, etc., to monitor how much press their clients are receiving. So it would make sense to me to have the publicity listings as a proper feature (not just a hidden, unlinked item) on IMDbPro.

And, shame gromit has no Pro access.  It's helpful to have for working with people here...<wink and nudge at Col>

Bluesman: Thanks for your support. Actually, Col already restored my Pro access a while ago.

Makes for less guessing what things look like and where they can be found. I'm glad!

You're very welcome!

In any event, I'm going to reiterate my original request. Having publicity pages on the Pro site (such as http://pro.imdb.com/name/nm0001401/publicity) is appropriate, because people in the entertainment industry may want to monitor what kinds of publicity (interviews, magazine covers, etc.) various people are receiving. But for that to be effective, the publicity page has to be accessible via a link from the person's name page on Pro (such as https://pro-labs.imdb.com/name/nm0001401), and currently it isn't.

I recommend that the Publicity link be added to the "Media" menu on Pro name pages.

I'm bumping this thread because I have received no response after 15 months.

I would be surprised if the IMDb staff ever consciously decided to leave the publicity pages on the IMDbPro site but remove all the links to them from IMDbPro. That seems more like an error to me than an intentional plan.

I'm bumping this thread again after having received no staff response for a year and a half.

Thanks also to Peter for his support on this.

This thread could use a bump.

Well, it looks like this thread has been resolved, albeit not as I suggested. If I understand correctly, all the "publicity" subpages have been removed from the Pro site and can now be found on the consumer site only.

This subject was raised because an IMDbPro user stated in the thread at https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/press-page-missing that she could not find her publicity on the Pro site. I had thought that information about the publicity received by a person would be useful to people in the entertainment industry and thus would be kept on the Pro site. But I guess that IMDb sees that question differently.

It is still open (unless you changed the status :-)

Col: After having this thread open for nearly two years (since Feb. 5, 2016), I had been hoping for a substantive response from the IMDb staff.

To reiterate, the problem was that "publicity" subpages existed for name pages on the IMDbPro site, yet they weren't actually linked anywhere on the main name pages on IMDbPro. I recommended that links be added on the IMDbPro name pages so the publicity information would be accessible to Pro users.

I was hoping for a response from the staff along the following lines:

Yes, we agree that publicists, producers, casting directors, agents, and other people in the industry are interested in seeing what kind of articles, interviews, and other publicity people are receiving. So we will plan to restore those links to the IMDbPro name pages.

The following kind of response would have been less desirable, yet substantive:

Actually, we have found that people in the industry don't really care about the publicity listings. Those listings are mostly for fans. So we are going to keep the publicity information on the free consumer site, and remove the publicity subpages from the Pro site because Pro users mostly aren't interested in them.

Given that the publicity subpages have now been removed from the Pro site, what implication should I take from that?
