Idea for privacy filters within IMDbPro

I strongly suggest that IMDbPro institutes a convenient system by which any user can block any other user (individual or company) from viewing any or all components of his or her profile on the site.  IMDbPro, because it is the best of its kind in the industry, has become more than just a database site: for many individuals, it has become a networking site and, of course, a site on which confidential information about titles in development is made available.  By providing such an excellent site, for which we members pay, it seems reasonable for the site administration to allow us the full and undiluted right to privacy on the site – and that right includes the right to block any other user, just as LinkedIn and Facebook allow their users to do; it’s reasonable to claim either LinkedIn or Facebook as just as much of a comp site as Stage 32 is.

With paid access and voluminous information – a large part of it within the realm of confidentiality – comes prestige, and with that prestige comes an attendant need for enforced exclusivity, at the discretion of each individual user.  I’m suggesting that doing so may require implementing an innovation that Facebook uses – giving each user the option of choosing which entities can view his or her profile or any part of such.  The options could include “Every individual and company,” “Only producers,” “Only actors,” “Only writers,” “Only directors,” “Only reps,” and “Block the following entities from viewing my profile,” with the relevant entities listed.
IMDbPro is a blend of a database site and a professional-networking site.  Its material features out to reflect that reality.
