Removal of IMDb Account “Sign in with Facebook”

On October 6, 2022, IMDb will no longer offer Facebook. Is this a Real or Fake email request to change password?

Observing this from the same standpoint as you, Marco, I worry that IMDb didn't give the users of the particular feature enough time to carry out the account recovery process, only roughly one month as opposed to something more like ninety days.

Instead of importing, you can login to your new account, then View your prior Watchlist in compact view, and use the Copy from this List feature on the 3-dot menu.

Also, I was under the impression you can _change_ the email associated with your old account,

This is absolutely devastating news as I've been using this IMDB account for 10 years :(

Hi @Edward , I have the same problem. I have been using IMDb for many years, and signed in automatically with Facebook credentials. I now have a different email address, also connected to Facebook, but I am unable to change my log-in preference or e-mail address, because that requires logging in and I cannot do so, given that I do not have access to my old e-mail. Also, IMDb does not recognize me, as I do not have my old e-mail associated to Facebook anymore.

Can you help? My user ID is rcarbone-73510.

The question about security is a good one. I would have to wonder which direction the loss of security would be, such as whether IMDb be unworthy of Facebook, or vice versa, Facebook unworthy of IMDb. We wouldn't necessarily know which of them acquiesces to a higher standard. I do suspect, however, that the issue may have something to do with the percentage of Facebook accounts that are sockpuppets, or otherwise used for spam or fraud. If (a big "if") that is the only problem, then the problem is not nearly as worrisome as something more along the lines of Facebook administrators (or developers) abusing the privileges that come with the powers of site maintenance, in such a way as to compromise the "social login" infrastructure. Regardless, that a serious enough scenario that no corporation would ever even bother to disclose any problems of that nature it faces. Maybe it boils down to incompatibilities arising from upgrades to one API or another, in the sense of the upgrade being unnecessarily complex.

@tatjana1984​ I've confirmed there is no IMDb account registered under the e-mail address. For further assistance, please reach out via the IMDb Contact Us form with details or links to your original account (e.g. User ID, lists/reviews, and etc.) for further assistance.

@Taylor​ under which e-mail Adress you cant find it? the one registered on spinklr or the one which the original IMDB Account had over Facebook?

@Taylor​ and this account needs to get the E-Mail adress which i use on spinklr or you could merge it with this account tatjanagreindl-76849's Profile - IMDb which i made to upload evidences when former the Facebook login didnt work and now is my temporarly submission account
