Please Help, IMDb threatening to close my account for inactivity despite being active

I received an email from do-not-reply@imdb.com that said the following:

”We noticed you haven't signed in to IMDb in over three years, and your account shows no activity (no Watchlist, ratings, reviews, or lists).

To keep your account active, please sign in to IMDb.com. If you don't sign in by May 20, 2026, your account will be closed. You will then need to make a new account to create a Watchlist, rate and review titles, and access other IMDb features.”

I use IMDb mobile on ios every day and have a watchlist with over 1,000 films on it, so I have no clue what they mean by saying I have not signed-in in a long time because that is simply not true. What do I do to prevent my account from being closed? This is a major inconvenience.

I got the same email and can't get through to their "contact" page.  Either the "email" box is grayed out and when I go to the so-called "Help" page, I keep getting this message "

I then went to the Help page and get this message:  "

Apologies! Something went wrong.

Our team has been notified. Please refresh page to try again!"  Frustrating and worrisome, to say the least.  No idea what to do next.

Hi Maya~ I too have tried multiple times unsuccessfully to get through to IMDB's "Help" as the "email" tab is consistently greyed out.

I then went to the Help page and get this message:  "

Apologies! Something went wrong.

Our team has been notified. Please refresh page to try again!"  Is IMDB experiencing issues?  I seem to have company re: this problem.  My main issue is that I got a worrisome email this morning saying "

Your account will be closed on May 20 due to not signing in to IMDB for 3 years.  This is COMPLETELY UNTRUE, as I sign in at least once a day, usually more. It's impossible to get through to any help.  Might you be able to resolve this?  Thanks in advance.

I just got a fake email saying my account would be terminated b/c I hadn't logged in for 3 years. I log in 6-7 days/week! and just stay logged in. Clicked on it like a (half-asleep) moron. Hope they didn't steal any info from me.

@harley9699 How did you know it was fake? The email I received seemed real and even had links directly to the IMDb website.

@harley9699   How do you know it's fake?  I got the same email, and did sign in.  And got an email from Martymccflyy asking for my username and email address attached to my IMDB account.  I have a pit in my stomach.

Hi @movie_man01,

We recently removed IMDb accounts with no activity for three or more years. This included accounts with no recent login activity, ratings, reviews, lists, or Watchlist updates.

This helps keep IMDb secure and running smoothly. If you're having trouble logging in, or if your account was removed, we're unfortunately unable to restore it or the data connected to it.

We sent a notification to the email address associated with any affected accounts 30 days before deletion. If you did not receive this email, it may have gone to spam or been sent to an address you no longer monitor.

If you did receive this email, and want to continue using your IMDb account, please sign in via www.IMDb.com.   We apologize for any inconvenience caused, and encourage you to create a new IMDb account at www.IMDb.com.

I've reach out to your email address directly, please check your messages and reply with the information requested for further investigation.

@Martymccflyy Please read what I wrote again. I am VERY active on IMDb and my account has not been deleted yet. I am simply trying to ensure that this does not happen because of this strange email. I have been consistently active on the app and website for a very long time, constantly adding new films to my watchlist and making new lists. I should not be receiving an email threatening to terminate my active account. I am working on adding every film on my watchlist to a private document because I now know that I can no longer trust IMDb with this simple of a task. This is beyond annoying especially from a site that used to be reputable. Threatening to delete your users’ accounts is not efficient or wise. Whoever came up with this silly idea should be fired.

@Martymccflyy Also, I never received an email from you directly so perhaps you should send it again because right now it’s making me unsure of whether or not you actually work for IMDb.
