The old interface style (better than current, imho) showed the year of production of the movies in the "more like this" section. Can we have back this info? Please, please...

@purimein Thanks for the feedback, you can access the year (and more) by clicking the "(i)" underneath each recommendation -- see red highlighting below, for example:

Hope this helps.

Thank you Col, but unfortunately it doesn't help.

I used to have the release year info at a glance (a very important info, that should be shown always together with the title). Now I have to click here and there many times to open other frames, crowding the screen. Really time consuming... let me say, this is NOT an improvement. When you change the look of something, you should first af all be careful not to leave good features back on the way. The IMDB page should be usable. Please give us back the release year... and tell the web designer to have some lessons of ergonomy of communication...

And thank you for reading our messages.

@Taylor

Where is alternate title?   Compare this to the original UI.

Here is a screenshot.

If the "professionals" that made this redesign are getting paid for this, IMDB is wasting their money.

@wnyguy2212  Thanks for the feedback. When a movie or show is known by another name in your country (and it is correctly tagged in the AKA titles section) then the local title becomes the main title displayed at the top of the page and the original title is displayed underneath. Are you located in the US or have you set US display preferences on IMDb? If so, earlier this movie was missing a local US title which explains the above display.  It should now look like this:

Hope this helps.

Ahem, Greetings ladies and gentlemen,

Please allow the opportunity for me to express my displeasure at your latest innovation. IMDB has become the go-to site for people to look up movie and TV information, not only because of the breadth and depth of the information in the database, but also because of how that information is presented. This latest user interface defiles the memory of what made IMDB great. It is not a clean interface, it is not an easy interface to deal with, it does not make the page comfortable to read. It is painful. Blowing up every element of the page so that it looks like we changed our browsers to 200% zoom?!?! What the heck was the thought process here? Severely disappointed almost every time IMDB chooses to "improve" the design. Most of the time at least it makes sense in the fact that the change turns the page into more of an advertisement than an informative page, with the top page and a half being interactive content from the movie studio. While I hate it, at least that makes sense. This simply doesn't. Please don't jump the shark.

IDK I find it pretty useful to be able to see everything loud and clearly haha.

I found myself zooming in before to see things.

Especially if your using touch screens and theres actually some separation between text for our stubby fingers.

Just had it forced on me moments ago. STOP.  Give me back the 'old' setup. This new design is awful.

Okay, "reference view" is the right size for desktops, but there's still no way of making the cast and crew lists more discrete or hidden.  It reminds me of the ending to any Marvel movie.  Names, names, names.

Please do something about that.  I guarantee you that people will stop bit*hing if you incorporated some ideas that are being presented here.

Surely everybody knows that most people come to IMDb to get the basics first; title and date; genre; user rating and review (few trust "pro" critics anymore), and so on.

I understand that people in the industry love watching the names.  They love it, I know.  I've been forced to sit through the ending crawl, all the way to the end by some of them.  Most people from earth, though, are on the other side of the screen.

Most people like simple stuff.

Wow, is the redesign ugly. Way too much white space and it's difficult to differentiate between the sections like you used to be able to with the old design. Everything is so giant too that it reduces the amount of content you can see without scrolling. A poor user experience is definitely enough to drive users away when there are alternative options available.

Seems like it's trying to rip-off the design of TMDB, but they've executed the concept so much better.

@bowserusc

Yeah it looks more like TMDb now. Some users commented that TMDb would be an alternative to IMDb now but I find TMDb's design terrible overall. TheTVdb (great for TV episodes content) is much more to my liking but of course both sites offer nowhere near the depth of info that IMDb has. They have sort of a monopoly.

I do also frequent sites in other languages. OFDb (German site) has a nice design and a decent community but unfortunately it lost a lot of steam in recent years.

I use IMDB pretty regularly.   I love it for the info it provides.    Just today, 5/29/21 I went to look up a movie title from a google query 'imdb without remorse" and land in a totally new interface!   Question how do I get back to the old interface?

I'm accessing the IMDB site from a Macbook Pro running Mojave with the Google browser Version 89.0.4389.114.

Please how can I get back to the old interface.    I don't see anything in my account settings for this.

Thanks for any help or pointers!

Unfortunately you can't, they changed it as you can read in the description above this thread here. The only workaround is to use reference view:

Go to Account settings, Content settings, then enable besides Contributors "Show reference view"

It's not the same as before but I prefer this interface to the new one and use it for the time being.

hello

thank you for opening this place

Dear sir/ma'am

3 days ago imdb changed their layout/code

after that your search function started giving extremely irrelevant result

this has reached to the point that we see some rude approach by users to imdb

and I can't tolerate this behaviour to imdb

I have a community where I am sending 150 000 uniq users from usa/uk/ca and 3 other countries to imdb

and I am doing this since 2015

please kindly ask developer to fix search result

please search

Get In 2019

Psychos 2017

I can show you hundreds of such cases

THIS WHOLE STARTED 3 DAYS AGO WHEN YOU CHANGED YOUR SOURCE CODE/LAYOUT

dear staff:

I can show you ,honestly , hundreds of such cases and I mean it

what happened to search function?

Now people must use google to find certain movies WHICH YOUR SEARCH ENGINE LITERALLY WAS EATING THEM IN LAST YEARS

it alllll started from 3 days ago

what these people did that day??

regards

@ARIOLands  We are unable to reproduce these problems, sorry.  Please can you provide more details on what you are entering where and what results you are seeing? Please also let us know how you are accessing IMDb (computer or mobile device) and are you using the site or a mobile app?

For example, from your post:

https://www.imdb.com/find?q=Get+In

https://www.imdb.com/find?q=Psychos

We have only redesigned the title pages, not the search results.

Please also see https://help.imdb.com/article/imdb/general-information/why-is-imdb-displaying-differently-on-my-browser/GF2ZAR69V859XLHF (especially the point on plug-ins and ad blockers).

Hope this helps.

The Metascore feature is missing from the 'new version' of IMDB. I use this all the time to get a consensus / range of impartial & unbiased opinions from established critics at respected international publications.

It's been especially useful when I only have a moment or two to chose/decide between films to watch, which will be suitable for viewing in a particular situation with relatives, colleagues or friends, wife's parents & or family, visiting relatives or friends from overseas (often elderly).

Have been trying for several days now, but I cannot see how to view the Metascore anymore, which is a crucial element to the usefulness afforded by IMDB for me.

( ~ & also to siblings & friends overseas, when I checked our 'WhatsApp' groups asking them for their help to find it).

I would appreciate your help in making the Metascore link prominent again, so can be quickly & easily accessed when (as usual) little time to decide.

Many thanks!

William.

@cybercat  Thanks for the feedback. The Metascore is over on the top right under the trailer.  Perhaps you are looking at a title which does not have a Metascore? Here is one which does (red highlighting added): https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9620292/

You can also access the score and review extracts via the "All Topics" menu up in the top right of the page:

which leads to: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9620292/criticreviews

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that, Colonel. Much appreciated, I wouldn't have found it. There was little in the way of immediately apparent explanation showing on that particular page (nor obviously signposted in the place the link had been in, to elsewhere on the site).

With the rapidly ageing population (who have leisure time to look for & enjoy films from the WW2 years to 70's etc), & ever increasing Alzheimer's (mainly affects loss of recent memory first, and inability to remember new things), changes or alterations to existing things which people are well-versed at using should always to be kept to an absolute minimum by default (or not at all, if logistically possible in any way).

I do hope these factors have been, & will continue to be a major consideration, (if not THE major consideration) in any unavoidable alterations to the golden treasury of films & memories that is IMDb.

Many thanks again,

William.

"Col" is the chosen diminutive form of his given name, "Colin", not the abbreviation of the command salutation "Colonel". I do believe he is okay with people referring to him purely in jest by such a title, though. As we know, being a colonel constitutes a very high rank in a command structure, like overseeing the operations and maintenance of an American authentic Southern fried chicken restaurant chain.

Hate, hate, hate new look. Oversized, over magnetized, can’t find anything!  Whose lame idea was it to redesign an already fine layout?  Stupid consultants.

HI. Before the last modifications of the site, if you clicked the year next to the movie title you would get a list of movies released that year, now apparently you can't do that no more. Any idea how can i see let's say a list of movies released in 1965?

thank you

@gealapa Thanks for the feedback. You can access this via advanced title search @ https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?title_type=feature&release_date=1965-01-01,1965-12-31

Advanced title search itself is located at https://www.imdb.com/search/title/ and can be accessed from the “All” menu to left of the search box at the top of every IMDb page.  You can search, filter and sort by a large number of variables.

Hope this helps.

Just out of interest, does anyone know if the site's content (except IMDB Pro) is solely generated by users or if there is also imdb-staff tasked with that?
