IMDB Top 250 with a Metacritic Filter

What about using a metacritic filter to allow movies to be in the top 250 list?

Metascore has been introduced in 1999 so i think that every movie from 2000 til now to be allowed to be on the list has to have a metascore rating

In this way you will have the real popular and more apreciated movies. In this way you can get rid of movies whose votes are clearly manipulated by their diehard fans.

This idea will delete from the list the following movies:

91. Taare Zamen Paar

107. Dangal

138. Jai Bhim

194. Mary and Max

204. Andhadhun

226. Hachi

242. Drishyam

245. Yedinci Kogustaki Mucize

246. Hera Pheri

247. Tumbbad

250. Soorarai Pottru

This Idea is great in many ways:

-You will keep the best Indian Movies on the list: Gangs of Wasseypur, Phater Panchali and 3 Idiots.

-You delete US Hallmark tv movies like Hachi

-You will keep only the best and most acclaimed foreign movies like Oldboy, Incendies, Der Untergang, El Secreto De Sus Ojos, Relatos Salvajes, Mademoiselle, Parasite, ecc.. a lot of great foreign films. The BEST

In this way you can avoid manipulated film to be on the list. Even if a movie has a rating of 9.9 by 25.000 family members that gave to that movie only 10s it can't make the list if it hasn't a metascore rating.

We can create room for 10 more movies and great quality comebacks in the list.

What you think of that?

Those movies have the following "top1000 voters" votes:

91. Taare Zamen Paar     6,2

107. Dangal                    6,5

138. Jai Bhim                  4,7 (with a 9.3 rating !!!)

194. Mary and Max        7,3

204. Andhadhun            6,4

226. Hachi                      7,2

242. Drishyam                5,6

245. Yedinci Kogustaki Mucize    6,3

246. Hera Pheri              4,8

247. Tumbbad                6,2

250. Soorarai Pottru       5,2

I know top 1000 voters are not the bible but you can clearly see that those are all average votes not worth to be on a list of BEST movies.

According to your "idea", these movies will not make it to IMDb Top 250 either.

... and many more.

Btw, 25 movies from the list you posted above does not have a Metacritic rating.

Check out: IMDb Top 250 Movies With No Metascore

You can use the Advanced Search feature to see movies that are on both IMDb Top 250 and Metacritic.

@BonaFideBOSS no ... you didn't completely read my idea.

The metacritic method would be applied only to movies released AFTER 2000. Because earlier metascore didn't exist..

All the movies you listed would be all save from the cut !!!

What you think of that ? My "idea" is GREAT

The only movies that would be cut are the ones I listed earlier:

91. Taare Zamen Paar     6,2

107. Dangal                    6,5

138. Jai Bhim                  4,7 (with a 9.3 rating !!!)

194. Mary and Max        7,3

204. Andhadhun            6,4

226. Hachi                      7,2

242. Drishyam                5,6

245. Yedinci Kogustaki Mucize    6,3

246. Hera Pheri              4,8

247. Tumbbad                6,2

250. Soorarai Pottru       5,2

We will have a lot of more quality!

Hello, the problem of average movies always popping up is still here and nobody seems to care.
Great movies like Jaws, The exorcist, Groundhog Day, Donnie Darko, Touch of Evil are gone and we always find those kind of new movies. The 3 newest new entries of the list are below average and we hope to have back more quality.
The idea of allowing on the list only movies after year 2000 that have a metascore is great.
Here's the link for the full details:
Here's the new entries... (meh)
