Automatic redirect to "Posters we love"

Since Thursday I have been experiencing issues of IMDb automatically redirecting me to the "Posters we love" section without me pressing any button to go there, including other tabs, I can have 4 tabs open with different IMDb titles, and it will suddenly redirect me to Star Wars posters in tabs I even do not have open. Is this a known issue right now?

Have tried to provoke it to happen on stock Chrome and it does not seem to have the same behavior there, so I am assuming it is an issue with Opera GX or an extension that I use there. Marking the problem as solved for now, does not seem to affect any other users of the forum so I am assuming it is specific to my system. (Or some caching or stuck in a redirect loop of some kind)

Hello Nomissimon10

Are you still experiencing this? So far, I have checked and the IMDb page is working properly. Have you tried other Web browsers? any more information that you can share with us so we can help you or report the issue please.

Hey, sorry for not adding further details, just thought I would post since it seemed to be such a weird issue that others were experiencing it too. Seems not considering no-one else has posted having the issue.

Anyways here are some info:

I am using desktop windows 11 with Opera GX, I do have multiple tabs open and it is inconsistent when it changes to the posters. I also have one extension that changes how easy it is to rate a series (adds a button), but nothing else that should interfere.

This is completely unrelated, but when loading pages now this section is added on first load, the section of "ipc-page-background ipc-page-background--baseAlt inline20-page-background". Which causes some shenanigans when loading the page appearing pushing the other elements down before disappearing and everything shifting back up again.

It seems to be placeholder rendering logic that is not quite working as it should

Do you mean that on a title page it automatically scrolls down to where the Star Wars posters are?

I have been getting something similar on my phone in Safari where I open an IMDb page, such as a list, in a new tab and instead of showing the top of the page it shows something far down the page.

No scrolling, it redirects, and it is also on desktop

Additionally our standard advice in cases of any unusual behaviour local to your own system is https://help.imdb.com/article/imdb/common-issues/why-is-imdb-displaying-differently-on-my-browser/GF2ZAR69V859XLHF but you no doubt tried most of this already?

I have not looked that deeply into it other that finding it quite strange. I have never opened the posters we love at any other point so it seemed unlikely that it is a redirect caching issue.

Have uninstalled all extensions now and tried again, but now I can't load anything and only get 503. For all browsers (ms edge, chrome and opera gx), are the servers down?

Edit: Checked from multiple IP's seemed to be down a few minutes, but back up now. And still seems to open the posters. Will attempt to use another browser to see if I get the same behavior
