Adding films to my lists

When I use IMDB App on my iPhone, I can add a film or an episode of a TV series to one of my lists. On the contrary since a few moths ago I cannot do the same when I'm using IMDB on my Mac laptop (of course I logged in before...). I can only add a film to the Watchlist but I cannot understand how I can add it to my lists. Can you help me? Thanks

alberto, Just wanted to make sure you found the Add to Lists feature to the right of the title page. It's the down-arrow button to the right of the Add to Watchlist bar.

@bderoes many thanks! I found the feature I was looking for. Anyway I'm still sorry for the (useless IMHO) changes of IMDB. However now I can manage my lists even using my Mac :-) Best wishes

On the desktop site, on a title page, just hover over the + for Add to Watchlist, and the list of your custom lists will appear.

You are right! I know this feature and so it was (and I used it!).  But these days it doesn't happen any more!! I can't understand why... When I do what you suggest, only the message "Click to add to watchlist" pops up, but nothing more is shown .... I checked IMDB either with Firefox or with Safari and I get the same behavior ... Very awkward!!!!

@albertof_k020t08j7wk3p I'm still having the same problem I posted last year (exactly on July 20, 2020). I am still no able to add a film to my lists using my browsers. I can do it only using my iPhone. Do you know if I can contact IMDB webmaster? Thanks!!

alberto,  You don't really describe the problem well enough. A specific example would be best. What title (URL) are you trying to add to what list, and what is the point of failure / what message do you get? Screengrab/s would be good. NB: there is/are some list/s that are unique to the IMDb iOS app. I don't use iOS, so I don't know the name/s.

@bderoes Thanks for your attention! I have 12 lists on IMDB which are "private": I don't share them because they are only for personal use. After I log in IMDB using a browser on my Mac (Firefox, Safari, Chrome... doesn't matter) I can click my account and I can see "Your lists" If I click on this item I can see all my lists and I can manage my lists (even if I cannot move a title from a list to another list, nor I can delete it. But this is not the problem I'm facing now...) If I search a film I know I have in one of my lists (for instance Stagecoach-Ombre Rosse in italian-> I put it on the "watched films" list) and I hover the + for Add to Watchlist (as you suggested to me last time) I get only the pop up window "click to add to whatchlist" as you can see , but the list of my custom lists doesn't appear (as I told you in my older replies, I always got that list "hovering" ....but since 2020 I don't get it anymore). That is, If I search whichever title (on my Mac) I cannot add it to any of my lists starting from the title page (and I cannot remove it too) usually ticking on the list... Instead I can do everything using my iPhone (it's a different process, I cannot compare it to that on my computer ---of course using IMDB App... if I don't use the App and I enter IMDB site using the browser on my phone I can only switch the + sign to a green check adding the film to the watchlist). All in all... I mean that I have no problem using the iPhone: I have all my troubles using the IMDB site with any browser on my computer. By the way: I never changed my IMDB account settings, nor my browsers settings. The problem I'm trying to explain happened before any system upgrade. Actually I never checked if things are different working with a PC "Windows", but I can't imagine why this could happen only on Macs (actually browsers -and site pages functionalities - are not conditioned by operating systems...). I hope I gave you better details and information... Thanks for your assistance

@albertof_k020t08j7wk3p  You have opted into title reference view which does not support adding to any list other than your watchlist, sorry.  If you have opted in accidentally, you can switch back by unchecking the setting: “Show reference view with full cast and crew (advanced view)” and pressing “Submit”  on https://www.imdb.com/preferences/general  Reference view is aimed at contributors and, by design, it does not support all of the features available on the standard IMDb title pages.

@Col_Needham  and contributors would not want all of the features available on the standard IMDb title pages  ?? 😃 well... minus all the bulky graphics and other junk others complain about here 😜    Many may have preference to the Reference view and may not be contributors 😊 .

@Col_Needham OK. Thanks. I just changed my settings and now I can see my lists. Anyway it doesn't work anymore the old feature to manage the lists hovering the + for Add to Watchlist. IMDB changed the way one can show the title page. In older times there was no difference between "normal" user and "contributor"... This change and difference between the two settings ... was it worth it ?  I hardly understand why IMDB did it! Best whishes
