Add ability to link related titles under one master title

It would be nice to have some way to link multiple related titles under one master title. For example, if you enter 'The Tonight Show' in the search box (and press return to get to the Find page), you get a list that includes seven related series:

The Tonight Show

The Tonight Show Starring Jack Paar

The Tonight Show

The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno

The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

There are also many other titles (specials, series, etc.) that may or may not be related. The titles listed above are all series titles, and are all the same show, just different hosts. There could be many commonalities that people might be interested in being able to investigate. The idea is that all the detail data associated with each of these titles would appear as if it was aggregated under the master title - episode information, cast and crew information, trivia/goof information, etc.

There is another series, Live with Kelly and Mark, which has been handled differently. In this case, as each change in host(s) occurred, instead of creating a new title, someone simply changed the original title. Now, while this may have made sense to the person who did this (it was certainly the easy way to handle it), it can create problems when a user wants to analyze individual episodes - including who the actual hosts were at the time. This also creates problems when someone looks at things like trivia items for people, where the title of the series is included via link=. By just changing the name, trivia items that were entered under, or are related to, an earlier version of the series may suddenly make no sense, because the historical name of the series is no longer in use.

This feature would also be great for movie series, such as Death Wish and its sequels. Star Trek can get even more complex, as there are several series and several movies, which means there could be a master that links all the various series, a master that links all the movies (or maybe a master that links all the movies with the original cast, a second one that links all the movies with the cast from Star Trek: The Next Generation, a third that links all the reboot movies, and, finally, a master that links all three groups), and a top-level master that links both groups (the series and the movies).

Being able to link titles in this manner would provide greater flexibility in searching relationships and analyzing related data, as the user does not need to figure out a set of related titles. For example, if I wanted to find people who were in any Star Trek entity (series or movie) and in any Star Wars movie, I'm not sure that could be done under the current system (well, it could probably be done by manual brute force, but it would take a while). in another situation, suppose I wanted to find out if someone was on several different iterations of The Tonight Show. While it could be done by looking through the person's credits, this method is prone to error, as the person's credits for appearances on the different iterations of the show could be separated by several/many other items, and the user may miss the occurrence of one of them. If the person's credits also listed the master entry for the entire series, that would provide an immediate listing of all the versions of the show that the person appeared in, as well as the individual episodes for each version. These are just some of the advantages the master title entry could provide.

@james_johnston_4d5h8woi6a7ga  This is already supported via the “Connections” subpage which can be accessed via the “All topics”menu in the upper right of each title page.  In the case of The Tonight Show, please see https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0046652/movieconnections/

You can even link directly to the “Followed by” titles via the “Jump to” menu in the upper left of the “Connections” page. For example, for “Death Wish” -> https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071402/movieconnections/?ref_=tt_ql_dts_6#followed_by

Some of the connections can be quite extensive and complicated, for example, Star Trek -> https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060028/movieconnections/

Hope this helps.
