Idea for "list view" to fix a usability issue with "gallery view" being used for lists

The app (at least on iOS) employs two kinds of list view.

The one on the right does not have issues.

The one on the left, when one is swiping through, and then tapping to go to a title, the back button goes back to the home screen. Expected result: go back to that list view where one has left off.

I think the "left" type is used for the commentary, and it looks like as if it's a repurposed image gallery viewer.

The "right" type is much better for also being scrollable up/down.

Idea: Perhaps it can be made to accommodate an expandable commentary section as a fix; essentially having one type of list without the "going to title and back" issue?
