Black and White Movie about what seems a mute lady
Hi,
I'm trying to find a movie I think it is from the 1960s. I think it was from the early 60s because there was a lady with these early 60's glasses and it was black and white. I only saw a clip of it but it seems its like a very strange thriller. I started viewing it where a what seems a mute lady is getting driven to her sister's house, but she is narrating in the movie. I think she is mute because her sister and then her sister's friend are trying to talk her but she doesn't respond to anything but creepily looks at them. I just remember that then her sister's friend then tries to talk to the 'mute' lady by saying 'Hello There' but the mute lady of course doesn't respond. The sister then tries to call some male nurses(I think they are nurses because they are dressed in white) from a mental institution. The next strange thing that happens however, we see the sister actually being dragged out of the house by the male nurses while she is screaming at them to let her go. I can't remember where I saw this movie. I saw it back in the 90s. Does this movie ring a bell to anyone? Thanks.

This might not be the movie you are thinking of, but it was the first thing that popped in my mind which is the movie "Sisters" from 1972. It is a thriller about twin sisters and they do go to a mental hospital at the climax of the movie.

This is a bit of a longshot. Part of your description reminds me of Repulsion (1965 - black and white and British). Catherine Deneuve's character is not mute, but she is awkward around people and does not like to communicate. However, the rest of it is not quite right. Deneuve's sister goes away on a weekend outing with her boyfriend, and Deneuve goes a bit nuts in the apartment.
Good luck with your search.

Sorry, Repulsion didn't work out for you. The only film with a mute woman that comes to mind from the 1960's is Persona from Ingmar Bergman, which I really don't think it could be the one you are looking for. In that film, the other woman was a nurse not a sister (and the film was in Swedish).
Good luck with your search.
