Solved

Who's the crazy guy who modified all the profiles of turkish actors and directors on IMDB ?

Hi,

I was randomly looking at the profile of Mehmet Kurtulus, (good actor by the way), and noticed something in the trivia section, when you click on "full bio". I thought it might me related to Turkish nationalism (sometimes extremism) and went on to check other turkish profiles. They all have the same lines written in their profile. Look at Burak Özçivit, or Hande Erçel for example.

It goes like this : "Sven Lagerbring stated that Odin was Turk. Firstly Turkics lived Altai Mountain. Big sea in asia dried, they went to European, Siberia, East Asia, Indian, Africa. Nowadays, The most isolated Turkic people is Basque people. Celts, Etruscans, Scythians are Turkic people. Roman empire assiimiilabled Turkic people (%51 of European). Also, People in Turkey are mix Turkics and others."

The history of Turks or Turciks is very interesting , but this is highly unscientific :)

@redizdead

You want IMDb to search all the Turks for all the  modified  profiles ? ?

Maybe they know who this is and can follow his contributions

More of these pages can be found by searching on Google with these searches:

"Turkics lived Altai Mountain" "imdb"

"Firstly, Turkics lived in Khakassia " "imdb"

It looks like at least three dozen trivia pages were altered. This could be fixed by a contributor simply deleting each of them.

Edit: I just submitted deletions for about ten of them myself.

p.s. Here is a better, more exact search. It currently returns 70 names.

https://www.imdb.com/search/name-text/?trivia=Turkics

Most, but not all, of these 70 bios feature the sabotage work of this troll. Let's call him the "Turkics Troll."

At any rate, the search linked above should allow IMDb staff to easily delete these irrelevant trivia items. @Michelle, would you like to do the honors?

I got the idea for how to do that search from @Peter_pbn's reply here.

Thanks for flagging this.

I can confirm that this information has now been removed.

@Rida not really, I don't think the root of the issue is addressed here. Lots of more name pages could be found with a simple search.

@cert Looks like about 20 name bios sabotaged by the Turkics Troll remain.

@cert I got it down to about 15 names. Here's the best search showing which names still have the sabotage:

@cert Let me know if you can still find any sabotage work of the Turkics Troll.

Hi @keyword_expert -

Apologies for the delayed reply, I am hoping to get this issue resolved, as I see you have narrowed down the sabotage to 7 names currently.  To clarify, does "Turkic" need to be replaced with "Turkish", or does this mention need to be removed altogether?

@Michelle I think we're good. I read the bios for all 7 of those names you mentioned, and none of them show any signs of sabotage. I think the word "Turkic" is a perfectly valid word to use--it just happened to be a word that was commonly used in the sabotage, which made it a good search term.

Bottom line is this issue is resolved and I think you can close the thread. Thanks for checking.
