What happened to the keyword "april-fools'-day"?

I tried to submit the keyword april-fools-day to the database. The system automatically (and correctly) changed the keyword to april-fools'-day.

But then it tells me that the keyword april-fools'-day does not exist.

If IMDb's preferred spelling is april-fools'-day, then why doesn't the keyword exist?

And what was it replaced with?

Well, this is weird. It does exist, but IMDb is telling me that it doesn't.

@jay_spirit

Yes, it does indeed exist.

april-fools'-day (113 titles)

You have stumbled upon a keyword oddity: a keyword that has existed in the system for a while, yet when adding it as a new keyword, the system does not recognize that the keyword exists.

Last week I discovered a few other keywords that are in the same exact posture. These keywords exist, yet the system does not recognize their existence when adding them to titles:

impeachment-of-donald-trump (23 titles)

person-with-a-physical-disability (72 titles)

grocery-stock-clerk (2 titles)

Put all these keywords together and there may be a good conspiracy theory.

Seriously though, I would love to know why these keywords are experiencing this weird glitch. I hope IMDb staff can help figure that out.

@keyword_expert 😀

From the above Warning

  april-fools-day----
  april-fools'-day----
  april-fool's-day----

Should the Apostrophe be used the same ??

I was thinking about that myself. The apostrophe should be consistent.

I can confirm that the four keywords reported in this thread are now all recognized by the system as existing keywords when adding them to specific titles.

Whether this has just been fixed for these four keywords or whether it was more of a system-wide fix remains unclear. If I do encounter any other long-existing keywords that aren't recognized by the system, I will make sure to report them here.
