Weird problem adding "assistant writer" credit

Wait. No. Never mind. I forgot to include the "(assistant writer)" as an attribute, the second time. Something about including that causes the item to not survive to the next stage of the submission form.

@Michelle I have not noticed it anywhere else. Part of the problem is that "Assistant Writer" (which this is the first show that I've seen use that title) should be differentiate from "Writer's Assistant". The latter, I agree is an "additional crew" credit; however, assistant writer seems to imply that the person took part in the writing process and is just a junior member. I strongly believe these credits belong in the writing department, not the "additional crew" section.

We among them IMDb non-staff do not see a warning message at all. In lieu, when the words "(assistant writer)" are placed into the attribute field for an item in the writers listing, the whole item winds up missing after the "Check these updates »" button is clicked.

In most cases, you do get the warning messages. It's only in the case where the additional crew section is being actively edited that you don't get the warning.

But, that makes no sense if they are actual writers.

I've re-opened this conversation because years later, this still makes no sense. "Assistant writer" is a valid credit that is used by Disney animation. It is a writing credit. It does not belong in additional crew with "writers' assistant."

For example, for almost all of The Owl House's run on Disney, Madeline Hernandez, was credited as an "apprentice writer". This was accepted as a valid writing credit. During the third season of the series, she was promoted to "assistant writer". How is this not a writing credit? Note: she is also credited with "written by" and "story by" as are all the story editors and staff writers.

Also, now this credit just disappears (instead of being moved into additional crew).
