Updates to Advanced Search
As Col referenced in his earlier post (https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/upcoming-changes-to-several-imdb-features-du6man1opd5q0),we're pleased to announce that today we've launched some updates to the Advanced Search pages. As the world’s most popular and authoritative source for movie, TV and celebrity content, IMDb is continuously making improvements to our website and apps based on our customers’ feedback and the usage of our many features. The changes to the search pages are as follows.
The Advanced Search page has a new layout with links to Advanced Title Search, Advanced Name Search, and the Collaborations & Overlaps search. The Title Text Search and Name Text Searches have been temporarily removed, but will return. The list of Browse By links has been reduced to eliminate duplication on the page.
The Advanced Name Search is built using a new search system that lays the groundwork for searching across more of the IMDb content in the future. The ability to get results that include or exclude list of celebs is not included on the Advanced Name Search page, this is a temporary limitation and will be returned to the page in the future.

Try the Advanced Name Search, which you can access by clicking the drop-down menu next to the search-bar, which normally has the word "All" in it, and click on Advanced Search. From there you can search for people by exact date, date ranges, and many other ways. Unfortunately it isn't currently possible to search only for people with acting credits to their name (which would be a welcome addition, IMDb), but it's a start.

I have been using IMDB in my classroom for years, but this year I can't find the "search quotes" option. It has always been in the drop down menu in the search bar. Did it move, or did you just delete this option? Thank you in advance for your response. IMDB is one of my family's favorite go-to sites.

Why did you get rid of the height parameter from Advanced Search? It makes it a lot harder to find someone when I can't narrow it down by how tall a person is.

Yes, I can confirm that we are actively working on restoring soundtrack and quote searching, in addition to the other searches for text in both titles and names.

IMDb.com used to have an Advanced Search feature where I could type in a text search like "Paint It Black" in "Soundtracks" and it would list every Movie & TV Show that featured that song.
I've tried many variations of the new Advanced Search but can't replicate this feature. How do you accomplish this kind of search?

I can no longer search or sort by a person's height. I used to be able to do an advanced search by height. I used to be able to sort people's lists by heights (i.e 'Tallest Actors/Actressses) and I used to be able to sort birthdays by height. Now I am unable to do any of that. When will it be fixed? I did this for years!
