The Writers section: How a comma between writers should be understood?

Hello,

Please advise what I should do.

I have a screenshot of the credits which says:

How the comma in between the 1st and the 2nd writer should be understood? As "and" or "&"? So should the order of writers be:Pep Coll story by 1,1,1Laura Tey story by 1,2,1 ("and")Mercedes Marro story by 1,2,2 ("&")?

Another one (excluding the 1st ("based on") value):

Debbie Brown screenplay 2,1,1

Allan Cameron screenplay 2,2,1 ("and")

Stephan Le Roux screenplay 2,3,1 ("and")

?

Since the word and is not used in the first case, I think it should be

Pep Coll story by 1,1,1

Laura Tey story by 1,1,2

Mercedes Marro story by 1,1,3

I am less sure in the other case because I am not sure "and" is intended as a "rewrite", but I would probably go with

Debbie Brown screenplay 2,1,1

Allan Cameron screenplay 2,1,2

Stephan Le Roux screenplay 2,2,1

"I am not sure "and" is intended as a "rewrite"..."

Same. I can't understand what the credits means.

Dear Peter,

What do you think about that the 1st example places Pep Coll and Laura Tey in alphabetical order and leaves Mercedes Marro behind? So for me it's sort of:

Pep Coll story by 1,1,1

Laura Tey story by 1,1,2

Mercedes Marro story by 1,2,1

Despite the fact that there's the symbol "&" before the latter.

Hmm?

Best,

Viktor

I don't know if they are intentionally listed in alphabetical order, and I'm not sure it's important.

IMDb's guidelines say, "unless specifically separated on-screen by the word "and", do not use the rewrite group (i.e. leave second value as "1")."

The guidelines that differentiate between "&" and "and" are based on the Writers Guild of America's credit rules. Not all credits conform to those rules, so the guidelines don't always fit perfectly, and we just have to apply them as best we can.

Hi, Peter and Viktor:

Yesterday I posted a situation similar to the first case and, if we consider what the IMDb editor ultimately did, it would appear that, indeed, if the word “and” does not explicitly appear between the names, the rewrite number should not be changed. In other words, Peter is correct and the order numbers should be:

Oh I see. It's a British title, so perhabs these rules can't be applied to it. Anyway, thank you!

Best,
