Super Friends - Duplicate Data

"Super Friends" is listed on IMDb as a series with nine seasons. But seasons two through nine are also listed on IMDb as separate titles.

Season two is also listed as a separate series called "The All New Super Friends Hour".

Season three is also listed as "Challenge of the Super Friends".

Season four is also listed as "The World's Greatest Super Friends".

Season five, season six and season seven are also listed as seasons two and three of "Super Friends" (1980).

Season eight is also listed as "Super Friends: The Legendary Super Powers Show".

Season nine is also listed as "The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians".

Which way does IMDb want it? As one series with nine seasons or as seven separate series? (I'd vote for having them as seven separate shows.)

J.: I would actually support having "Super Friends" listed as one series with nine seasons, rather than as seven separate seasons. While the title changed several times, and the show went into and out of production and occasionally skipped a broadcast season, there was a consistent group of core characters, the same production company (Hanna-Barbera) throughout, and the same U.S. broadcast network (ABC) throughout. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Friends for a treatment of the entire franchise as a single series.

I wouldn't object if IMDb went that route.

One thing they should know, though. All the episodes listed in the various stand-alone series are already in the main 1973 series, with one exception. The eight episodes that make up season one of the 1980 show are NOT included in the data for the 1973 title. If they merge all the stand-alone series into the 1973 title, they will have to make sure those eight episodes are not lost in the process.

In other words, the 1973 show will end up having ten seasons, not just nine.

AMENDMENT: Actually, seasons five, six and seven of the 1973 show are broken up from only two seasons (season two and season three) of the 1980 show. That means that after the merge, the 1973 should STILL have only nine seasons.

Very confusing. The more I think of it, the more I agree that the least messy solution is to merge everything into one show.

I know that J. understood what I meant and I'm sure most other readers here did too. But to be precise, I meant to write, "I would actually support having 'Super Friends' listed as one series with nine seasons, rather than as seven separate series" (not "... seven separate seasons").

Yeah, that's how I understood your post. And like I said in my edit, I think you're right. I agree that it should be one series with nine seasons. The various titles ("Challenge of the Super Friends," "World's Greatest Super Friends", etc.) can all be listed as alternate titles for Super Friends (1973).

Hi @jay_spirit -

I reviewed the original ticket which indicated that the issue was resolved; however, checking the links within your original report I can see that the subsequent season listings are still displaying on the site.  I have filed a new ticket for the appropriate team to re-address, as soon as I have an update I will post the status here.

Hi @jay_spirit -

Thanks again for reporting - I wanted to provide an update on the data clean-up.  We are so sorry it has taken this amount of time to resolve, due to our backlog we don't have the resources to work through the clean-up at this given time, for this reason we are closing this thread but know that we are still tracking the issue and will pick it up when we have the bandwidth to handle it.
