Rape is listed under the Sex & Nudity tab on Parental Advisary

I know nudity is sometimes included with rape scenes, but rape is a crime of violence and putting it under the sex tab is a little... Difficult to swallow. Maybe putting rape in the violence category would be better? Any nudity in the rape, of course, belongs in the nudity section but the scene that depicts rape should really be considered violence.

I can't believe this didn't receive any replies. I was thinking of reaching out to someone but thought I would check this page first. Did you receive any feedback from anyone or did this suggestion go completely ignored? Rape and molestation should definitely be under the Violence & Gore section

It's a good point. The parental guide pages used to be very user-controlled, but have recently switched to a different format. If IMDb agrees with your point, there could perhaps be a warning message if a contributor uses the word rape, indicating how rape scenes should be described.

I believe it would be best to put "the rape scene" in both sections.

I avoid placing it in both (preferring only the violence section) unless the rape involves nudity or if the manner of the rape is more akin to date rape (intoxication-involved) or statutory rape than to conventional brute force/intimidation.

@jeorj_euler

But rape does involve sex. It should be listed in both, I think.

I'm just reporting what I do or try to do, irrespective of what ought to be or what is the best practice. So, yeah, indeed sometimes sexual violence exudes so much sexuality (even if without nudity) that referencing such a scene in the "sex and nudity" category is unavoidable, and forced/coerced sex (usually sexual intercourse) is exactly what rape is.

I found this community space while looking for contact info to voice my opinion on this subject. Rape should be listed in the violence section, rather than sex. Or both if nudity is present. Is this space moderated by an affiliate of IMDB? Or are we just speaking into the void?

Why does IMDb place RAPE in the sexual content section and not the violence section? This is absolutely DISGUSTING and wrong. FIX THIS.
