profile photos

Any chance of you designating someone to whom profile photos of deceased / pre-1945 actors / actresses may be submitted?

I have run across so many Silent film era stars who have no profile foto. They're long gone and will never have a profile foto per your current Pro-account only submission policy, according to my understanding of it.

Is there no one to whom we may submit a foto for their profiles?

It's so sad that they are blank, when theirs are the faces by whom film was founded and formed.

Thank you for considering the request and them!

How about allowing free Headshot placement on their IMDB page for retired actors?  We're not all rich and no longer can afford IMDB Pro.  We are not seeking work through IMDB. We no longer need to promote ourselves, it would just be for posterity. It would make IMDB seem more complete with more photos populating.

@pepper9 You might want to vote for this thread: https://community-imdb.sprinklr.com/conversations/data-issues-policy-discussions/profile-photos/5f4a79fb8815453dba9423da

For staffers: Can this thread (as well as the votes) be merged with the 2018 thread please?

Is this on any roadmap?

I guess it doesn't hurt to ask (again) after two years.

@Marco Amazing to me how they just continue to ignore this.

I do not know, but IMDB did add a profile pic for my Godfather Jack Pennick's history. Not a pic I would have chosen (scary) and most know him from John Ford's Western pictures. Not that I'm complaining!

Most likely an IMDb image partner uploaded it, but it is also possible that an image uploaded at some point in time prior to 2015.happened to be tagged by an IMDb user with the default privileges set. We found out only a year or two a go about the various ways that an image can come to occupy (or appear to occupy) the primary image slot on an IMDb name page.

Greetings
I certainly agree with all those who wrote about the possibility of inserting photos of deceased people.
I believe IMDB is the most credible place for the world of international cinema. The collaboration and contributions of everyone leaves a knowledge stone for every time and historical research.
I don't think the problem is the verification of those who are alive or dead, nature thinks about this. I think that applying an age threshold is the guarantee to trace a red sign, those who are lucky enough to be alive after 90 years certainly do not create an objective danger of unfair business or lack of economic revenues for the management of the site.
I hope that someone of the staff can reflect on this necessary awareness for the archival credibility of this great site. Regards

I want to put up a profle picture of my deceased father, who is on Imdb, but they said only the profile person can. How silly is that?

@Kimbals It's absurd. Immediate family should be allowed to provide credibility to the site. Seems they don't really care if there is a photo or not.

Hi, Kimbals. Welcome to the IMDb Community forum! I have a few questions for you. (1) What is the name of the person who told you that only the profile person can claim the page? (2) Do you have a paid subscription to IMDbPro? (3) If so, then did you have it before or after being told that only the profile person can do the thing?

I am a tenured professor with a large collection of Hollywood memorabilia and have hundreds of pieces associated with specific films which I have been diligently adding to the IMDB data base, but I have hundreds of other images of actors and actresses not associated with specific films who have long since passed away. There currently seems to be no way to add them to their profiles. There’s so much film history that is already lost, but there is such a tremendous (and important) opportunity through technology and the IMDB platform to help plug the drain.
If there is currently no workaround, I would respectfully request that your development team consider adding a feature that permits adding images for deceased persons whose pages aren’t managed. For example, I have several photos of Bette Davis issued by Universal in 1932 but are not associated with a specific film. This was common practice during the heydays of the studio system to promote unknown stars that the studio had under contract. There is no way for me to post these (possibly) never before seen images to Bette Davis' profile.
Thanks for your consideration.

It is sad that IMDb makes such a huge issue out of adding something as simple as a profile pic. It should be mandatory that a profile pic is on EVERY profile. Also a lot of us are researchers and have contact with the relatives of these people so we are not passing off deceptive info. I wish we could have a valid reason for not allowing profile pics to be submitted. I think we are all well aware of copyright infringement issues. So IMDb what is the problem?
