Thanks, but I keep finding more stolen summaries. The adult titles aren't displayed on his page, so I don't know how many more were added. Unless this person can prove ownership of any of them, they should all be deleted. It's not realistic to keep deleting them piecemeal.

If you're referring to the ongoing plagiarism, he's continuing to add plot summaries to non-adult titles as well, as you can see in the examples above. Keep in mind, this has been an ongoing issue for at least five years. To take a cynical approach, "[A]ppropriate steps to help prevent the ongoing violations." seems to indicate that you can't or won't actually stop this person and that the staff was aware of what was happening, as I've been deleting or correcting the summaries on and off for years. I asked how many summaries were added, and the answer seems to be several thousand.

At one point, there were more than a thousand titles listed on the above page. Were they all deleted? It looks like his byline was simply removed from them, and most of the summaries were retained. The guide states: "Things you shouldn't do: Copy from other locations - plots must be your original work & all copyrighted material is excluded from the plot summaries database." Apparently this isn't true, because these summaries keep showing up.

The problem is that it may be hard to prove plagiarism, since we won't necessarily know that the plot outlines appearing in various places across crowd-sourced parts of the Web aren't from the same source (or that something didn't publicly originate on IMDb before being copied therefrom onto other places), and even outside of crowd-sourcing, there is nothing stopping a studio or a distributor from spreading around its original work. I used to take action upon plot outlines shared by both IMDb and CVMC (or other movie information websites), and I gave up on account of uncertainty, at least in regards to plot outlines that were not personally authored by me.

It's true that once a plot summary is listed on the IMDb, it can often be very difficult to determine the source. This is especially true if someone has reworded the summary or translated it from another language. Almost all of the plot summaries that I've deleted or corrected from the above contributor were either clearly plagiarized from the DVD covers or were listed on other sites before they were added here, even if they originated somewhere else. This summary, for example, was taken from this review years after it was published.

As far as I can tell, this person simply doesn't write anything himself other than to tack on one or two sentences to someone else's work. The reason that I found these summaries in the first place is because this is clearly the same person who was and is corrupting the cast credits on these titles.
