Language attributes to be displayed

Currently, when one submits a language entry for any title, it is possible to include an attribute associated with that language.

However, as discussed in the thread at https://community-imdb.sprinklr.com/conversations/data-issues-policy-discussions/attributes-for-languages-displayed/61f86e2423c1a32f12df4728 , the language attributes are stored in the database, but not displayed anywhere. So, for example, for a German-language film in the Swabian dialect, Die 1000 Glotzböbbel vom Dr. Mabuse (2018), the language of German is displayed but not the attribute of (Swabian dialect), even though the database has that information.

So I am recommending that IMDb find a way to restore the language attribute information to be displayed again. Or, if that isn't going to be done, please remove the Attribute column from the language section of the submission form, because there's no point in encouraging people to submit information that isn't going to be made available.

Please update the default title page to display information from the attribute field of language entries.

For example, this for The Artist is not helpful:

I hope this all goes well, since this is my first post on GetSat because, well, we all know about the message boards...
I totally agree that it would be much better to display the language attributes on the site instead of only showing it on the update pages. The current situation makes these pages look very unprofessional.
(just like a lot of other issues mentioned on GetSat, this issue has also been mentioned on the Contributors Help board before)

How does IMDb feel about this? Do you guys agree this would be good to have, or not? And is it on some roadmap? I'm not asking to implement this before March is over, but some answers would be nice.

That's a good point Peter. I just did. Hopefully, others will follow.

I very much support this thread. I've tried to open my own on the same very subject, but it was merged as a reply in the thread about the new versions of the title page for some reason (most likely my "current layout" was misinterpreted).

I am actually not sure whether attributes are seen anywhere on the website right now apart from being accessible through edit mode.

I'd love to see that done for the colors as well, while those are available with attributes on Technical Specs page, having them right and clear on the front page of the title would've saved a lot of time correcting misguided edits.

Hopefully (and FWIW of course) more people will vote for this idea.

I could merge my old idea post into this if you wish.

@Peter_pbn I didn't know that was possible. It depends on which post has more votes already; I would be fine with merging this post into yours if yours has more votes in favor.

Hopefully the votes merge as well. Your post is more up-to-date, and I have not kept mine updated.

Edit: Your post had 4 upvotes, now it has 9. Mine seemed to have 14, but it is was five years old and the whole site layout has changed since then.

This thread needs a bump. I note also that the submissions guide for languages says, "We will list any language spoken. If necessary, please use a qualifying attribute such as (a few words)(a few lines)(song), etc."

https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/titles/languages/GSCRBZYEH5NX5SXL#

But there is no point in asking contributors to use a qualifying attribute for languages unless the attributes for languages are going to be displayed.

Hi @gromit82 -

Thanks for the bump on this Idea thread, given the thread votes and comments I have filed a ticket for the appropriate team to review our display logic for language attributes and consider options.

Cheers!
