Keywords restricted to early alphabet in picker

Wanted to add a Keyword that starts with "co", and opened the picker to choose it from the existing list.  I clicked on "C" at the top of the picker, and scrolled down to find the "co" words.

The list ends near the start of "ch" words:
The "next" button links to "D" keywords, and the "prev" button links to "B" keywords.  It seems impossoble to find the rest of the "C" keywords beyond "change-o"
What am I missing?

Nothing... Just another feedback that was passed along and forgotten...

This seems to happen a lot on here, especially when keywords are involved. That could be one of the reasons why "getsatisfaction" changed its name...because people often remain unsatisfied after reporting problems on this forum.

Hi @ron3 -

This is a longstanding issue (as seen extensively in the previous thread that @ljdoncel referenced).  I have now filed a new ticket for the tech team for visibility and to review/reconsider making a fix or replacement of this view within the contribution form.

Once I receive any updates from the tech team on this issue I will relay the information here.

Cheers!

@Michelle

I'm guessing one of the reasons IMDb doesn't want to fix this persistent problem is that it would require displaying too lengthy of a list (too much data) at the click of a single button. That seems to be the trend over time -- especially with the recent redesign of various IMDb pages and search results.

If I am correct that that is a concern, then might I suggest a very workable solution: instead of giving an entire list/page to each letter of the alphabet, why not structure these lists in a alphabetical and hierarchical format, so for example using @ron3's "co" item, there could be separate lists for "c-," "ca," "cb," "cd," and so on, rather than trying to list all "c" words on a single page?

@keyword_expert If IMDb would work through all your lists of duplicate keywords, a (small) part of this issue would solve itself :)

@Marco I agree, and I also agree this would only be a very small part of the fix -- probably negligible in the grand scheme of things. I do have hundreds of proposed mergers pending, yet there are likely hundreds of thousands of keywords that should be merged or deleted.

With that said, the delays by IMDb staff on keyword issues have become frustrating, especially because there has been very little explanation of exactly what is being changed behind the scenes at IMDb regarding mass keyword changes. Couple these delays with the many ways in which keyword searches have been broken over the past several months, and it has caused my enthusiasm and interest in the IMDb site to wane quite a bit.

@keyword_expert Or, alternatively, the "next" button here should function as everybody would expect, that is, to take us to the next alphabetical group of keywords starting somewhere in the "cha-" range rather than the letter "d".

@keyword_expert It remains a mystery to me why it so hard for IMDb to properly communicate with its contributors. I completely understand your waning interest in IMDb. A former member staff is still, after quite some years, really missed: https://www.imdb.com/user/ur0000002/

@Marco Thank you for caring about keywords and understanding how important they are to the IMDb site. Unfortunately, my fears have been realized -- IMDb staff have now publicly admitted that keywords are a low priority for them, and they will no longer act on public lists of keyword mergers proposed in this forum. This is disappointing to say the least, but I can at least take solace in the fact that I saw this coming and stopped compiling merger lists several months ago.
