When I was the first time searching for the Korean Series "King the Land", it had an IMDb rating of 8.0. That was on 24.06.2023. When I was checking it again on 13.08.2023, suddenly it was rated with just 3.5! I was wondering because this series was mentioned at that time as the best series in 2023 on MyDramaList. Now, I just finished watching the series and I really couldn't believe that it still had a rating of just 4.2. If anyone of you would have seen this series, you would agree, that these voting is based on false voting and I strongly believe that it was produced by a script and therefor forged. Can you please check in your log files, if this can be the case and change it to the real rating? I saw, that the first 8 episodes have much more votes (8.078 to 15.052) than the rest of the series and all of them have the bad rating (2.9 to 4.4). from episode 9 on, the voters are much less (530 to 1112) and the rating much higher (between 7.7 and 8.9!). This difference can be explained, that the false script based voting happend before episode 9 was released.

Ratings are for me a crucial information and decision provider, if I would watch a movie or series or not. And I believe, many other visitors of IMDb do the same. If I know, that these ratings can be manipulated, the reliability of IMDb and it's information is gone.

I've recently watched king the land (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt26693803/ratings/?ref_=login). I thought it was a very light hearted romcom with enjoyable characters and an engaging storyline.

When I then jumped on IMDb, I was surprised to see a very high number of ratings 1. Looks like either bots or a boycott coming from some specific countries took place. 

I think in both cases such ratings should be removed, as the purpose of the website is not political activism or give way to hackers. The purpose is to provide potential viewers with an indication on whether they would enjoy watching the show or not, with data based on people who ACTUALLY WATCHED the show.

If not removed, these suspicious ratings should at least be filtered out by default.

I couldn't find this thread before posting a new one. But wow, ~1 year and this problem still hasn't been solved...? I don't think this is fair on the team who produced this TV series. IMDb is an important site to potentially capture new viewers after the hard work they put in, and allowing this to remain unsolved for so long impacts them. 

After some additional research I understand the reason for this to have happened, either via bots or a somewhat coordinated boycott. There's an arabic character in the show which was played by an indian actor and supposedly misrepresents the arabic culture. Some people found that offensive enough to launch a hate attack, even though its a fictional romcom and not a documentary based on a particular person.

I can't really understand this mindset, but it is the sad reality we find ourselves in. It is worth noting the character is not a villain or anything like that, its just a wealthy man also interested in the female lead character and is introduced to cause jealousy on the main male lead character. That story arc is short and I would have personally removed it from the storyline, because it was a bit over the top.

Still, I do believe these ratings should be either removed or filtered out - for the reasons stated in my first post.
