Does anyone know who or why the title of Sesame Street was changed?

I just noticed that Sesame Street now displays as "Song of the Cloud Forest". This seems wrong and I can find no justification for it. The Song of the Cloud Forest is a completely separate entity in the Henson library. https://muppetmindset.wordpress.com/2017/10/04/revisiting-song-of-the-cloud-forest-the-golden-toads/

Any idea why this happened? It seems like it should get restored to the original title which still shows under the "new" title.

Sorry about this - it is the result of a software bug. The correct title has been restored; there's a clean-up operation across other impacted titles which should be completed early next week.

Col,

Thank you for restoring the sunny days of Sesame Street or at least the title.

Thanks for letting us know. I was wondering if this was related to the thread I saw after I post this about odd display titles.

adrian,

I've verified the title change on IMDb.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063951/

There is no indication of a name change on the Sesame Street web sites.

Adrian: As can be seen at https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063951/releaseinfo, there is an Alternate Title listed for "Sesame Street", in the USA with no attribute listed, that says "Song of the Cloud Forest".

I've just submitted a deletion for this Alternate Title as it makes no sense when applied to "Sesame Street".

Unfortunately, it's not possible to add Alternate Titles to episodes, since "Song of the Cloud Forest" apparently would be a useful alternative title for https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1807613/ (the "Jim Henson Hour" episode in which it was included).

@gromit82

The question would be why would that become the default US title? That doesn't make any sense. Also, I wasn't sure if there was a legitimate reason for the change. It does seem to require IMDb to research why this happened (especially in light of the fact I can't change episode titles for the The Blacklist and Black Lightning to their actual titles.) How does this happen?

It became the default USA title because it had the country USA attached to it and no attribute associated with it.

By contrast, other alternate titles listed, such as "The Itty-Bitty, Farm and City, Witty Ditty, Nitty-Gritty, Dog and Kitty, Pretty Little Kiddy Show", have attributes such as (working title) next to them, so they don't get listed as the main title. (Actually, I think that and some others would be better listed as (fake working title) instead, but that's another matter.)
