Change a movie poster? (part 3)

In my last post (see 4th link), it was explained to me to use a certain procedure to request a change for the primary movie poster. But call me crazy, I don't see this option anymore? I wanted to request a change for The Dentist 2, Midnight Run and Frailty, but I see only the option with the last one, but it still hasn't been changed.

Hello Navin2000,

I just checked on the titles provided and tried to suggest another image as primary and I am not finding any problem. Can you tell me what problem are you having?

Remember that you have open the poster that you want to suggest as primary and from the pencil you will find the option to submit the suggestion, as showed in the screengrab below.

Seriously, why do topics get closed so fast? Now I couldn't reply to this post:

What I wanted to say is that there really isn't an option to choose the ''Suggest as primary image'' option with all movie posters. With Frailty it was possible, but not with The Dentist 2 and Midnight Run, see links.

Hello Navin2000,

The images that you are trying to suggest as primary images are not from the image type "Poster". Primary images have to be submitted as Poster, any other image will not be eligible to be set as poster.

You can find more help and details on our Help Articles.

@Fran

Hi,

And how to fix this? Is it possible for me to add images to the list and assign them as poster?

@Fran

Also, how come that someone changed this poster for Beetlejuice 2, while it also isn't even a true movie poster, what the heck is going on? Shouldn't this be handled by IMDB staff in the future?

Hi @Navin2000,

As @Fran mentioned, the images you suggested above are not "Posters", but yes when you add images to a title page, you are asked to assign an image type, one of them being "Poster" but the image must be a valid Poster to be approved.

The poster on the title page for Beetlejuice 2 was removed as it was fan art, which we do not accept. When a title page doesn't have a Poster image type, another image type is assigned as the primary image until a verified poster is submitted.

Please see our Image Guidelines for more information and FAQs.

I hope this helps!

OK I see, but surely the fan art is a better temporary solution than the current pointless image when it comes to Beetlejuice 2. And how do I add posters to the image list?

Also, I wonder who gets to decide if a poster needs to be changed? Finally, after weeks the one from Frailty has been changed after I requested it, which is cool. But I just saw that the poster for Untamed Heart has sadly enough been changed to a less good looking one for some reason.

Hi @Navin2000,

As per our Image Guidelines, we do not accept fan art as it is not legitimate material that can be associated with a title. You can find guidance on how to add posters in our Image FAQs.

We also have a help page on how to update a poster here.

Cheers!

OK thanks for the info, I now see the ''Add Image'' button, never noticed this before. So in other words, I should add images myself and assign them as poster.

But wouldn't it make more sense to add the ''Add Image'' button to the homepage of a movie, instead of forcing people to navigate to the last picture in the Photo Gallery?

Hi @Navin2000,

Yes, you can contribute posters to IMDb yourself.

Thank you for your suggestion, you can always create an Idea poll in the Community with this suggestion which can then be voted on by other Community members.

Cheers!
