Actors' roles not showing up in chronological order anymore

Roles are split into Upcoming and Previous. The Upcoming section is showing older roles that are not in the future.

This is happening on most of the actors' pages I've viewed. The only ones where it wasn't happening was when the actor didn't have any upcoming roles or only had 1 upcoming role.

I completed a short film in 2021 and has been screen through a couple film festivals. I consider the project completed and in the past but on IMDb, it is listed as upcoming still.

How do I change the status of this project from Upcoming to Previous?

Jason: Does the film have its film festival release dates listed in its Release Date section already? Have you submitted a Production/Development Status of "Released" yet? If not, please make sure to do so.

Otherwise, please provide a link to the film's page so we can see if there might be any other problems that are causing the film to be listed as "upcoming" instead of "previous".

@gromit82  Hello my title has the same issue. I added released and 2003 date but it is listed as "upcoming". Can you help? Here is the link:

Inspired: When did you submit the "released" designation and 2003 release date? It may take a few days for the film to be moved from the "upcoming" section to "previous".

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt28319988/releaseinfo/

If it has been, say, one week since you submitted the "released" designation and 2003 release date, I recommend starting a new thread about this, as the IMDb staff might not notice your request in this thread.

I just added the title today. I'll wait a few days and then check. Thank you for your reply

The problem is that the episode of Presidio Med where C.Baranski appeared has no release date. While the series has start & end years, that episode does NOT.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0677985/

If you can provide release dates for the last 3 eps of this show, that would help.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0315047/episodes/

Rotten Tomatoes claims they were released 1Jan2006, which seems unlikely.

Wikipedia shows them as unaired.

TV Guide shows only 11 eps.

TV Maze also shows only 11 aired, and has even more unaired eps.

Submitting "Released" production status for the episode also seems to work, based on another case.

This is happening with almost every actor I view - i.e., contributors are not suddenly omitting data on older shows and causing this to happen.

It has happened because of some change on the website or the backend and how it processes and displays the information.

Entering the missing data for this show does not resolve the underlying root problem.

@adrianm2000 Yeah, there seems to be a recent change in how these are placed. Previously if the series is released, episodes with no known dates would still be placed in "previous" section, now any episode without a date makes it jump to the upcoming section. There is a new thread every few days about this here recently.

Thanks — this looks related to a bug we are tracking via ticket #D83073757 (reported at https://community-imdb.sprinklr.com/conversations/imdbcom/credits-excluded/6467f69d5dbf510a3f245cec).

Hello,

Please, help, I've been trying to figure out what I did wrong and how to fix it for 12+ hours, this is so frustrating. The series I added a day ago (to my surprise, everything was approved just an hour after submission) is still showing under "Upcoming" without a poster instead of "Previous" (when on an actor's page). And the show's/title's page also looks as if it hasn't been released yet even though all 15 episodes of season 1 have been streaming for months and have been aiding during regular broadcast in several countries since May (added 7 eps. already, postponed adding the remaining 8 because of this issue). On top of that, every single episode automatically gets "Release Date Unknown" as 1 of the items being added and approved.

The series was submitted and approved as "Released" with the release date (of the first ep.) and 15 additional release dates "17 August 2022". I've added every episode with a release date (17 August 2022, 31 August 2022, 14 September 2022...). For the 7th episode, I even tried submitting an additional release date for 1 country along with the "Original Air Date" in the "main form" hoping that might fix it. But nope, "Release Date Unknown" was added and approved there as well, which is absolutely baffling and looks like a terrible joke when the actual release date is right there, twice, also approved.

Please, before I go insane, how do I fix this? Thank you.

@StopYouDogs Thanks for the problem report and sorry for the inconvenience.  The problem is on our side and not with the data itself. We have added your case to an on-going ticket covering this (ticket reference #P89621395).

@Col_Needham

Thank you for getting back to me. Before I posted here I checked if people were having the same issue. But I didn't see anyone mention it and it was my first "big" submission. So I though I must've missed something important.

Couple questions :)... 1- Since I'd like to check for updates, how/where do I put that ticket #? 2- Also, I've been adding more episodes and I keep submitting that additional release date. Should I keep doing that or is it just a pointless waste of time and clicks+typing (release was worldwide - internet)?

Thank you

@StopYouDogs  It turns out that this was a timing issue in that the updates of the release dates did not propagate across all of IMDb’s systems quickly enough.  The page and the episodes are now all back in-sync.

We are following up with the appropriate team to address the underlying timing issue.

@Col_Needham hey! I came across this thread because two of my titles are doing the same thing. They are released with release dates, but they are showing up under "upcoming" instead of "previous." Thanks in advance for your help!

@NicoleTownsend Sorry about that — assuming this is you @ https://www.imdb.com/name/nm9730953/ and the two titles are Completeness and Coney Island Baby then these look like timing issues. One aspect of this issue is that it can now (temporarily) take all of the elements extra time to catch-up with release date and production status changes.   It should resolve itself within the next 24-48 hours.

I noticed on my page it says there is an upcoming credit for the Thieftender Podcast. That should not be upcoming, as it was released in 2022 and, as far as I know, is complete. How do I fix this so that it is no longer upcoming? Thanks.

@drewmaru Sorry about this; it is the same problem as also reported on this thread and the team is looking at a fix.

Oh, thanks! Any idea on how long that might take? Also, did I do everything right on my end? I went in and listed the years they released. One of them already had a date listed (probably from when I made the episode article), but I don't know how to edit that, since it is not the same as the "Release Date" section.

Hello! I've recently added some titles that have both been released and are available for public viewing. When creating, I've marked the titles as "released" with respective (NZ) release dates of 7th July 2023 and 2nd June 2023. However, these are appearing in the cast and crew's pages as "upcoming" projects with a released label. For both titles, the original contribution creating them has had all fields approved and are currently being displayed. Is this an issue I need to resolve, or is this a technical issue that will eventually sort itself out? Thanks!

@danielr_02 Please provide a link to an example name page where the credits are listed incorrectly.  There’s a good chance this is all down to the same 24-48 delay bug which is affecting certain titles as referenced above.  In theory it should take care of itself in that time period, but having a specific example will help.

Please advise how do I solve this issue? The release date was set in the past and also listed as "released" in production status.

I myself, as a usual IMDb contributor, created the page for the short movie “The Visit”:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt28374650/

The movie having been regularly released, it appears listed as “Previous” in all cast & crew’s credits pages, except mine (I was a member of the cast as well), where it results as “Upcoming”. I wonder why.
Best regards

@Col_Needham Hi! After a week, the title still results as “upcoming” on my page (while as “Previous” in all other cast & crew’s credits pages). Best regards

@sandronaglia Thanks for the update and sorry this is not yet fixed.  We have flagged this example for the software team as it should have caught-up several days ago.

Hi @xclamation_point -

I have now fixed the issue on your page.  "Planet A" is now displaying correctly under the "Previous" drop-down.

This is displaying in the "upcoming" section of the cast members' filmographies.

My understanding is that this usually happens when there is no release date attached, but there is a (non-future) release date on this title, and I have submitted a "production status" update of "released", which was accepted yesterday, so I can't see any reason why this might be happening.

@tom_wake This is a timing issue which the team is continuing to investigate. If the release date has only just been added it can (temporarily) take 24-48 hours for the title to appear in the correct section, sorry.
