As RbDeraj states above, there is currently no way to ignore polls that you have not taken. With over 4550 live polls I suspect that the number of polls can be overwhelming.
What you suggest would require a change in the poll software. For the IMDb technical staff to add this feature, there would have to be significant interest in your idea for them to consider adding this feature. There may also be better ways to find the polls you want to see such as a filter or poll search.
Until/unless your idea or similar idea is implement, here are some ways you may find polls you find most interesting:
1. After taking a poll, you will see Related Polls under the results for that poll.
2. Up to six polls are shown for each name (person) or title page on the right hand side towards the bottom under the heading User Polls.
3. Each message board shows IMDb Polls, polls related to the name (person) or title page.
4. You can use a Google key word search to find polls you may find interesting. Enter the following for the Google search: site:imdb.com/poll keyword where keyword is any keyword you find useful.
For instance, if you wish to find polls related to Clint Eastwood enter the following for the search: site:imdb.com/poll Eastwood
