Why "More Like This" recommendation only 12 titles?

Why IMDB shows 12 titles to recommend per title? The listed titles never seem to change and doesn't help me discover more. I do understand it shows only top 12 titles by affinity that the algo predicts per title but unless they increase the titles to show like top 50, or throw in new titles, there's hardly any more discovery...

Just to add something more ... only new titles are recommended for new titles. So the relevance is like only "release year'.  I never get new titles recommended, which I'd very much appreciate" for older titles that I liked.

I understand new titles lack rating or user comments so the algo can only rely on the release dates to predict titles to recommend, which I hate to say, is quite unsophisticated...

I really hope IMDB improves it to make itself more useful.

Or is it because I'm not a paid member, if any?

Hi, uzm2000. Welcome to the IMDb Community forum! The way the title recommendations works has nothing to do with anybody being or not being a "paid member", and quite possibly it may not even make a difference whether a visitor to the site is or isn't logged in on IMDb.

I use Title Reference View, so I only see the recommendations when using a private browsing window, which may not be necessarily often. I've only noticed that some title pages generate more compatible recommendations than others do.
