What is the new parent guide?

Hello, I was browsing IMDb when I noticed a new area for the parent guide on the main page. This however only appeared in my incognito unsigned in (which thinks I'm in UK for some reason) and not my account which is set to Australia. I will send the image separately in the replies so this doesn't get hidden but I have some questions.

  1. Is this region specific at the moment?
  2. Will this work like the MPA ratings in which you can add the advisory content listed in the rating? (E.g. M Mature themes and violence)

Edit: It seems that the new layout removed the MPA rating description and replaces it with an empty regional rating.

The first is for UK 12A BBFC.

The second is for US E10+ ESRB.

Also by the way it doesn't appear on my account if I change my region to US or UK.

Parental Guides are not a new feature on IMDb (see https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/titles/parental-guide/GF4KYKYJA4PKQB32) having first launched in the early 2010s, and rating certificate support dates back to the early 1990s.

We are running a small experiment to summarise the guides directly on the title page for some customers so this is why you are seeing it on some accounts / browsers and not others, however, most titles have a guide accessible via the "All topics" menu in the upper right.  For example, https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111161/parentalguide/

Hope this helps.
