We need a way to be able to save other users' lists

Hello there, I'm sorry if this has been requested before, right now the only way to achieve this is to bookmark the page.

It seems such an easy thing to implement, a "Save list" button on the list and a "My saved lists" on one's profile page, it's just a simple two rows table with the user id and the list id.

I see, I guess every place has one of those..

Anyway, I was aware of that feature but I was talking about the possibility to save it inside one's account for easy and fast access. Seems more intuitive, user friendly and consistent with how most of the web behaves.

Besides having a pointer to a list would always show its current state while saving a file is only a snapshot of the items it contained in that moment.

Ah, yes.. You put a lot of care in your replies and I certainly appreciate it but honestly, wouldn't it just be easier to just have a "Save list" button? It's not an easier method for saving a list as a file or importing items to another one but it's a completely different feature, it's having a pointer to an existing list and I think most user would want to do that much often than the other two.

Even in that case, nobody would do it.. after saving the csv it would remain forgotten in the downloads folder forever, and taking all those steps to create a new list for each interesting list I find? Nah, most of the times I complain that the internet is made too much for dummies but in this case it's the most logical thing to do IMHO.

Anyway, thanks a lot for your replies.

Cheers..

I understand what ACT_1 means in this instance. The problem is that the suggested approach would be inconvenient to actually apply on a regular basis, like the other two approaches but even more cumbersome.

This does sound like an idea of system for a private list of IMDb lists, per IMDb member. Wonderful! Why do I have the feeling that: if the IMDb developers implemented this, it would remain in the "beta" edition for a decade? (I offer that rhetorical question in pure jest.) I do feel, however, it would be nice if a way to create IMDb video lists (for trailers, clips, commercials, promos et al. found in IMDb title video galleries) would be provided sooner, as this is an ability that the IMDb data editors account already has. I do suppose, the "list of lists" idea could be organized into categories or not:

  • "my list of lists of titles" aka "my list of title lists";
  • "my list of lists of names" aka "my list of name lists";
  • "my list of lists of images" aka "my list of image lists";
  • "my list of lists of videos" aka "my list of video lists";
  • "my list of lists in general".

A list of lists of images/videos could be alternately known as a "gallery index". For the sake of sanity, it might not be feasible at all to have a list of lists of lists, certainly not in an infinitely-recursive way.
