UI/UX Features Request: for IMDB Users, Critics, and Subscribers
Possible Feature Ideas for Users, Critics, and Subscribers
1) Multi-Episode Review Selection - Introduce the ability to select multiple episodes when writing a review. Benefit: Aligns with binge-watching behavior and encourages more timely, relevant reviews.
- UI/UX: Add a checkbox-style episode list within the review flow, allowing users to select specific episodes (e.g., Episodes 1–3). Display this clearly on the published review (e.g., “Covers Episodes 1–3”).
2) Reviewer Analytics Dashboard- Provide visibility into how critic/user reviews are performing. Currently, users can see traffic based on "liked/disliked" reviews, but not the overall traffic. It would be great to see all viewership regardless of "likes". The reviews "views" could be derived from users using the "read more" button.
- Benefit: Encourages higher-quality contributions and provides a clear incentive for ongoing engagement and potential IMDbPro adoption. [Advanced analytics (e.g., engagement rate, ranking, traffic sources) could be included in IMDbPro as a value-added feature for all users].
3) Season-Level Ratings- Allow users to rate individual seasons separately from the overall series rating. Although the cumulative rating of the show can still be seen, it would be great to be able to filter or see the rating(s) based on each individual season. Benefit: Reflects variations in quality between seasons and provides more accurate, granular ratings for users deciding what to watch.
- UI/UX: Add a drop down menu next to the "rating" and allow users to rate each season individually using the dropdown menu (1–10 stars).
4) Parental Guide Contribution Recognition- Parental Guide contributions are not currently reflected in user contribution summaries. A majority of my contributions are to the parent guide. And as a contributor, I would love to get the recognition for the work I do. (This could also help user view what other content guides the user has updated and then evaluate the reliability/accuracy of their work).
- Benefit: Recognizes high-value contributors, encourages continued participation, and improves content quality through accountability. - - -UI/UX: Include Parental Guide edits in the user’s “Contributions” section (after milestones (e.g., 20+, 50+)). Display contributor attribution on entries after a threshold is met Optional: add helpful voting on entries and surface top contributors with badges.
Thank you.
