TV Show Overall Ratings

I'm not sure if this has been recommended before but I thought I would share my opinion anyway.

Currently, you can rate TV Show episodes invididually as well as give a show an overall rating. But most of the time, that overall rating isn't reflective of all the individual ratings.

For example, take the show Shadowhunters. The overall rating at the moment is 6.6. However, if you were to calculate an average rating from all the individual episodes, you would get a rating of approximately 8.8. That is a difference of 2.2 and while this specific example is probably one of the bigger differences, it is very much still the case with most shows.

So as an idea, I would like to see a "calculated overall rating" that is an average of all the individual episodes or something along those lines. The current overall rating doesn't have to go anywhere and it might be a bit confusing if there were two ratings, but the "calculated overall rating" that I am talking about can simply just be a number in a perhaps a smaller font size, but close to the overall rating.

Just an idea I've had for a while that I thought I would share.

Series aren't a bunch of non-related episodes.

The quality of a series is influenced by the "red string" that relates the episode. This why I consider that Fly (2010) is an excellent episode on its own, but it harms the series.

Another Example:

Each episode in Hannibal (2015) is good, but the series is a little inferior.
