First of all IMDb would need recent shots of all Actors, plus pictures of all cast for each film. Given the problems with copyright plus the cost (in manpower) of obtaining these. Even for those cases where IMDb already has photos tagged with the actor's name and the film title, the system would have to choose which one to show. Sometimes a person is tagged on a shot where they are only in the background, or are faced away from the camera.
Not sure what the problem is, because you already do that for dead actors. I mean, if you showed them as they are now, they would look like skeletal remains of the Zombie Apoc. Instead, you show thumbnails of dead actors as they were in the movie, or close to the same time. All we're asking is that you do the same for live actors.
Hi, DavidAH_Ca. I think that people would at least like for the technical capacity to add such thumbnails to IMDb to exist, but perhaps it is somewhat far off since character pages were taken offline and replaced with actor-specific character quote listings.
I don't understand what you are saying. They already show pics of the actors "as they are now", and can't they just take a pic of the actors off of the movie, to show what they looked like then. It wouldn't have to be everyone of them, but mostly for the main characters.
Cory, the photos are provided by the name of the actor/actress. The coding allows that when an actor's name is listed that the headshot provided for that actor be placed along side of his/ her name. I can't imagine how anyone would be able to code so that a specific still from from a specific movie be linked only to that actor's name on that movie. What you are asking for would require that every single film be individually coded...that would be very, very time consuming and costly and not cost beneficial.
adding photos of actors and actresses as they are sen in their appearance on movie or show to compare to their imdb profile picture to know who is who since there is an age difference and the actors or actresses may look different from their imdb photos in the cast section this would help to have these photos side by side within the movie/show cast list section

Is it possible to put characters picture under the actor, so we can tell which character they were. This also includes voice-overs. I always see an actor/actress see the name of the character but if a makeup or cg is great & looks nothing like them its hard to find the right actor/ actress. If it's easier to put a link that's clickable that sends you to Thier character picture page, that would be great also. Can the link be put under Thier actor headshot. My idea would help find a actor/ actress with ease if it's a character based movie. I'm happy I found the right place to put in ideas I've had this one for a while. Thanks for your time.
Would it be possible to have an image of the character along side the cast member photo in the cast lists. Often you remember one or the other and the comparison would help.
IMDB, could you please display the cast thumbnails of when the movie was taken, not the current photos? If we try to find an actor, and don't know his name, we'll try and browse the photos as they appear in the movie, since we might recognize them as they appear today.

It would be nice/better if the photos of actors shown for a movie (for example) were those from that movie, or at least taken within a year or two of it. Seeing a picture of a gray-haired Martin Sheen on the Apocalypse Now page was a little jarring.
It would be convenient, like much of IMDB is in general, if in the listing of the cast of all movies, there were a picture of the character the actors portray in the movie, especially if they are in heavy makeup enough that it completely obscures how the actor looks. For example, if, for whatever reason, you didn't know that David Prowse was Darth Vader and you weren't familiar with the character, an image of the Dark Lord would appear next to the name in the cast section. So, looking from left to right, you would see the actor, their name and the character portrayed name (as you do now) but then finally on the far right there would be them, the actor, in full wardrobe change. In some movies the actors alter their appearance very little and there is very little to no need for the other image on the right.

Use images of cast member from the actual film in the cast list. This will make it easier to identify who is playing the character as you are watching the movie and trying to figure out who it is you recognize but can't place.

I don't think this would be feasible.
