Title pages — new version available for sneak peek

IMDb is working on updates to the Title page. The new version of the page is mobile-responsive, meaning all features are available on devices of all sizes, and has a modern look and feel — otherwise it maintains all the functionality of the current page, though some features have moved on the page.

The new version of the page is available to a limited group of fans during a beta period. During the beta, some features are still under construction, and you may encounter bugs.

UPDATE: now available!

Hi!

In this anime episode (Horimiya episode 1.2) I can not find the Review section. No one reviewed it before, so it is understandable that I can't find it easily. Anyway I reported the issued but, selecting the option "something is missing", I was not able to specify what is missing. Hopefully writing this here is the right thing to do.

Have a  nice day!

Next time you want to report something using the linked form, just choose the first link "was broken". It will give you an opportunity to describe what you found.

You can always find the link to User Reviews (and many other data groups) by clicking the All Topics link, to the right of the title

@Littleman Thanks, but this is not an issue with the new pages.  This title has no link to add a review because it does not have a release date on IMDb.  You can only review titles which we know have been released.  If this episode has aired, please add the release date details via the “Edit page” button on https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13848886/releaseinfo and the review option will appear once the date has been approved.  The same applies to the old title page.

Thanks for every reply. I get it after trying to comprehend the issue.

I've submitted the airing date now. And I've learned the lesson.

Sorry for bothering you and thanks again for your replies. Have a nice day!

Okay, just for a summary before I get into my case. Earlier I wrote this on one of my previous posts on this topic:

- When I'm searching for a company, a keyword or anything else, I only get matches for titles and actors/actresses, which I did not search for. I hope that gets fixed if we are automatically thrown into the new version.

- When I click on the button that's supposed to take you to alternate titles for other countries, the release dates are the only thing that shows up. I hope that gets fixed if we are automatically thrown into the new version.

Now I really know why this happens: The IMDb system sometimes forces me into the mobile version. Are you serious? I'm using desktop PC, not a mobile device. So please, let not only me, but others decide what version to use: Either the www-version or the mobile (m) version.

I'm 100% sure a lot of IMDb users know this from before since the beginning, but I feel I have to tell this anyway. Since bderoes asked me to post links if I should find anything, now I found pretty much, so now I can put up links with pleasure. This is also for anyone new to this topic.

I searched for a keyword featuring the word "blood", and the website should look like this:

https://www.imdb.com/find?s=kw&q=Blood&ref_=nv_sr_sm

The mobile version that only has titles and actors with "blood" on the name, but not keywords, is here:

https://m.imdb.com/find?s=kw&q=Blood&ref_=nv_sr_sm

And so, whenever I search for a company, let's say Universal Pictures to name an example, the website should look like this:

https://www.imdb.com/find?s=co&q=Universal+Pictures&ref_=nv_sr_sm

The mobile version doesn't have the company and only has titles with similar names, and looks like this:

https://m.imdb.com/find?s=co&q=Universal+Pictures&ref_=nv_sr_sm

The desktop version of "Parents guide" looks like this:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11146230/parentalguide?ref_=tt_stry_pg

while the tiresome mobile version looks like this:

https://m.imdb.com/title/tt11146230/parentalguide?ref_=tt_stry_pg

For Alternate titles, the desktop version is the thing, using "Kill Bill : Vol. 1" as an example:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0266697/releaseinfo?ref_=tt_dt_dt#akas

Not this mobile version that only shows release dates:

https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0266697/releaseinfo?ref_=tt_dt_dt#akas

So sometimes when I search for a keyword, a company, or even titles and anything else, I sometimes get automatically thrown to the mobile version, so I must change the M to WWW several times. And that is just tiresome. So please, just let me just keep the WWW version, and stop automatically throwing me into the mobile version. And just like I said earlier: Using the IMDb on a mobile device is not gonna happen for me, as I'm only sticking with my PC. And I'm not going outdoors and public areas (cafes, workplaces, etc.) just to look at my iPhone with internet, because I have a goal whenever I'm outside my home, just to have that said: Meeting friends, doing librarian works, eating lunch, shopping, etc.

Anyway, I'm sorry if I sound harsh. Thank you.

Sincirely, Chribren.

An absolutely HORRENDOUS Desktop website 'redesign!', clunky, blocky, sluggish, massive tiled interface, all obviously dumbed down and made to look like a 'phone screen' for f'inger pointing', it looks like its been designed for toddlers! this then inflicted onto Desktop users looking for a more advanced user experience. Completely UNUSABLE on DESKTOP!.

As soon as that absolite GARBAGE is inflicted onto Desktop users im DONE with IMDB!

stey's comments about this sneak peek are completely accurate; this trend to accommodate mobile devices is pointless.  When something is a bad idea, it cannot be fixed ... it's just simply a BAD IDEA.  Don't subjugate the rest of us with this nonsense.  (and consider firing whoever thought this was a good idea)

True. This is why I'm using the old version, like I mentioned several days ago. I did not like the new design with the big circle photos, all information just crammed together so it looks like a mess, and some other stuff I mentioned earlier.

If much smaller websites can have separate pages and interfaces for mobile and PC users, why can't IMDB, owned by the 4th largest company on the face of the planet, figure out a way to do this? When it comes to things like this, one size definitely does NOT fit all.

Okay, I know this design is still being sorted out, but some links on the main title page aren't working right or link to a mobile-designed page (with the m in the link), and on external sites the links aren't working.

I hope this gets sorted out as fast as possible.

sai_arun,

You'll (we'll) have a better chance of getting all those kinks out if we (you) actually report the specifics.

I just moused over a lot of links on a movie title page, and didn't find any that said m.imdb.com instead of www.imdb.com. So if you're getting sent to the mobile version, I hope you'll report it either/both here or/and on the Report an Issue link, choosing "Was broken" so you can give specifics. You should probably include the entire URL, because it may be some parameter that's doing the wrong thing.

Despite using two columns for cast, where it was one previously, the spacing means there is an awful lot of scrolling to see all the page content.

I'm disappointed with two aspects I use on every film I see. Check-in and rating. Check-in used to be a mouse-over, and one click. Now it's a click - but not obvious where, followed by a second click, but not obvious where. Definitely a backward step.

Rating would show you how many stars you were about to give something, before you committed. Now you have to carefully count before you click - hardly progress! :-(

I hadn't even noticed, but you're right.  Mobile devices don't offer tooltips, or anything helpful created in 3 decades of desktop browser development.  This is asinine to treat desktop users this way.  As you wrote, definitely a backward step.

Wake up IMDB; get you head out of your phones, and get back to reality.

I stopped going to the main page because the page, all the information seems very large and zoomed in. It's ridiculous. I have my bookmark for IMDB set to the News section because I can't stand how big everything is on the page. The scrolling right to left is fine I guess. Going to the new pages for TV Shows/Movies is like going on to a social media site now. The cast looks like you're scrolling through someone's facebook and they are the friends. Old layout was perfectly fine. Everything could be found without scrolling a page and a half. It's too busy, too much information on the front page. Like, I don't mind clicking on something to read more about it. It just looks really silly and cluttered.

I did the same, stopped using the main page ever since it became like it's today. Before that, that page was easy and fine to use, until it became the mess it's now. So therefore, I only use titles and search pages so I can search for stuff in peace without having giant pictures shoved in my face, as well as seeing all information crammed together in one page. Like everything has to be big today.

So yes, I did like the old layout better than today's layout.

The problem I am having is that the as you can see when you right click on the old IMDB site I have what is called Save Image As on the new IMDB site I do not have that option and a lot of other stuff is missing from the new site when you right click on the picture. I am working on creating a database for movies that I want and I am adding the image of the movie to this database. Is there a way this can be added back. See the two images below.

@bderoes thanks for the details! We are working on squashing these bugs — they're related to the responsive nature of the new version of the page.

nice site but I noticed that you dont have the episode / film lenth on the top of the page like the old site. I just found that info very useful.

@Eug76 can you share the URL for which title you're looking at? We still show runtime on movies and episodes; for example https://www.imdb.com/title/tt12984026/ . If you're not seeing it, it might be a missing data issue — or a bug we can look into! Thanks.

You don't know that this looks horrible on desktop? I can't believe I even have to make this comment.

I can't believe you need me to tell you how horrible this is. You can't just look at it on a desktop and see that it doesn't work?

Shameful.

"urgh! what the hell is this piece of crap?" Honest reaction to IMDB's future page design. Like, "urrgh!" Whiteness, more bright than the sun, on scroll, after a pitch, 'dark side of the moon' black, on-page-open? smh. Fire the web designer, right now! Kidding, but not really. WTH? ... Using the same manerisms as Family Guy's Consuela...."no no no no no no".

Is there some reason Keywords are not labeled as such?

The answer is obvious --- can't just have a clean webpage with useful information.  Going forward we have buttons large enough that uncoordinated mobile users can flop their fingers.  The perfect mate of photos so big we can see them across the room.

(this all sucks)
